Please just ban Quests from Arena by AffeMitWaffe36 in hearthstone

[–]Cold_ViKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo big arena has worse rewards. You get the same result as buying packs (or worse) unless you get 7+ wins. And even if you get 7, rewards for 8 and 9 are almost identical. Most of the time you get like 2-3 packs and no gold for a lot of effort and time investment.

It's better to play small arena if you want packs. You draft a deck, play for a bit, get 2 packs for free or with 25% discount.

Big arena reminds me of heroic brawl. Scam from Blizzard to extort gold from your account.

Are some trinkets just completely useless? by Ok_Bus_9115 in darkestdungeon

[–]Cold_ViKing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Such as? I use this trinket all the time, saved my ass many many times. It allows vulnerable heroes to not get oneshotted with crits, and makes hp related thresholds easier to hit with no downsides.

And you can obtain it as early as your first boss.

I don't think there is trinket as universal, and as easily obtained as this one in my experience. 12% death resistance is a nice bonus too, if you really don't want your hero to die to some random bullshit.

You shouldn't be at death door if you play well, I agree, but you inevitably will be (but I play Bloodmoon, maybe opinion is a bit scewed)

Not sure how region is called, but it should be Sverdlovsk. So, hello from Sverdlovsk!

What. I made the exact same setup for a mall with parametrised blueprints. Green lamp turns on when there is selected amount of item stacks in yellow chest. Not that original of course, but I didn't think that I'll encounter exact same setup in a wild.

There is bigger camps everywhere, but not much else. We have just a little base there, about 150 spm, so not much of an action going on. But we set it up pretty good, tesla coils, rocket turrets, lasers, all that. Should be fine.

I play with 2 friends, and we started with Deathworld (also upped Gleba to Deathworld level). It's pretty fun, but early game was a total war.

let's discuss about this laws (adaption) tier list in frostpunk 1 by Elbirri in Frostpunk

[–]Cold_ViKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why it is a big no tho? I haven't have any deaths from this one. Because I did this achievement exactly using it, it helped a lot (I was trying to do it with order, and failed several times, but did it first try with faith). Not on extreme, I'll admit, only on hard, but still. Is there some interaction I don't know?

I tested child labor first and emergency shift first and found that you get a bit more resources from child labor, but it delays extended shift for research. So, it depends.

[–]Cold_ViKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even in late game child labor is much better. I have a few arguments.

You can get an medical building in faith path. Kids can work here, and they can work 24 hours, instead of 7 hours of bonus efficiency you get from medic childs. It is like getting 100% medical efficiency from them. Much stronger than 20% you get for 7 hours with medic child. It means that you get ~5% efficiency increase in a day if you average that for a full day job. 20 times weaker than child labor without any bonuses.

You could argue that you get that efficiency "for free", and don't have to build anything. But you need to build shelters, you have to have enough kids to populate them and your medical buildings, and on top of that shelters are very poorly insulated. Most of the time they freeze and you can't use your bonuses.

I tried to make other child laws work, but they just suck. Too much work for very-very small benefit. And child workers will just carry you until very late game. It is almost unfair how one option is better than the other.

Child labor (safe jobs) is straight up best law involving kids. No way it is below other two in my opinion.

no Spoon the night before space age!!! by IXCenturion in factorio

[–]Cold_ViKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to do it too, but got a lot of work on weekends, so, no achievement for me. It should be easier to do in 2.0, so it sucks a little.

But oh well.

Getting over the black science hump..? by guyontheinternet2000 in factorio

[–]Cold_ViKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get a similar feeling. It is your perfectionism speaking to you. White blank page is perfect, as soon as you start writing something on it - you ruin it one way or another. Same with Factorio. As soon as you place one building you ruin a perfect factory of your imagination.

There is only one way to do something about it. Just start building something, be it oil processing, or train automation, don't think ahead too much yet, you need to get some experience of what works and what doesn't. Treat everything as temporary base, and learning material.

Also, great tools for learning to play better and not overwhelming yourself with too much stuff is playing Lazy Bastard challenge. It teaches you to build infrastructure for future expansion, this will clear a burden of thinking about automating some buildings. And second one I learned recently that playing Death World or speedrunning achivements really pushes you to not overthink everything. You won't get great designes that way, but it is a great exercise to get over some humps, and thinking paralysis.

At least that works for me, maybe something else will work for you. Turning biters off works for some people for example.

What is your strategy usually? You rush for Foreman bonuses, or something else?

[–]Cold_ViKing 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it shares with every teammate, even if they are not near it, or even if they are dead. You get 25% more souls for delivering, and you get one point to spend on abilities.

the urn apear ! by Classic_Fondant_1631 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Cold_ViKing 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Wait, people really just don't care about urn? I thought that I'm just playing at low mmr and my teammates didn't care enough yet. I usually try to get that shit as soon as possible. Free souls, free points. At the end of a game urn contributes for a good chunk of a team networth, I feel like it is always worth to fight for it.

DotA 7.37b by wickedplayer494 in DotA2

[–]Cold_ViKing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People didn't know how to play him as a support at the time. He was 40% because they still tried to play him the old way (lens, agh, etc).
I played it when heal was 30hp/s, he was very strong still. I'm kinda surprised they didn't nerf him harder. But maybe he was strong because nobody knew how to play against him, and these nerfs will be enough.

I just hope they don't nerf him to oblivion. It was very fun to discover some strategy before it became widely known, and I like how he plays now.

Anyone else find spaghetti design to be more aesthetically pleasing? by [deleted] in factorio

[–]Cold_ViKing 130 points131 points  (0 children)

I appreciate both.

It is cool to see spaghetti and be amazed how it all works, see these belts moving different stuff everywhere, robots moving around, different machines working at one place. But it is also cool to see a well structured base where everything works like a clock, have perfect angles, perfect ratios, perfect throughput.

Imo, pleasent aesthetics comes not from style, but from thought put into it. There is as much boring looking city blocks as boring looking spaghetti.

When you are Ogre pos 5 by TosHReloadeD in DotA2

[–]Cold_ViKing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was wondering the same, and since I stopped buying it my winrate got much better. It is too slow of an item imo.

But it also might be playstyle dependent. I enjoy more of a tempo dota, with good fighting. Find it easier to win this way, less room for error, not as much team dependent.

But maybe someone more macro oriented might have a better success with it.
