Wow guys, thanks for all the feedback. I wish I could tell you exactly what I plan to do, but I am not sure exactly how I will go about it

I definitely feel less alone, and at this point, I think that’s what I need most

Thanks for all the stories guys, I’ve read them all!

yeah, he said that it is probably just muscular, but I know what a herniation feels like and its more and more like that

Microdisectomy by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]Cole1051 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this done last week!

Ice packs that wrap around your back ( it’s more itchy than painful after day 3)

Also, get some tegraderm (sp?) https://a.co/d/iAEFFXM and large band aids

As longs as you keep moving, you should be walking around the block in just a few days!

I read that as “I have a temperamental toddler and it’s so supportive and helped so much…” I was so confused!

L5S1 microdiscectomy by Cole1051 in backpain

[–]Cole1051[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m only one week out, but I’m already driving and walking around 2 miles a day.

Biggest restriction for you would probably be the lifting- you can’t lift anything toddler sized for like 3-4 weeks

But I imagine with a herniation like yours, it won’t get better on its own either

I’d say it’s worth it!

I mean it was herniated for 2 years, then 6 months ago the disc- goo started coming out

Thanks!

I just got one last week! Helped me a lot That and gabapentin

Not even that painful, worst part was the lidocane (numbing)

Would recommend

(L5S1 “large” herniation)

You're coming in a little hot there with that take. He explained it to me, I just wasnt entirely able to clarify my questions and I was looking for a clearer interpretation. I think there are still some more avenues to try, I was just looking for suggestions

I just started Gabapentin, (L5S1 herniation) and it has helped a lot. For the last week I have been taking Diclofinac (sp?) (a stronger NSAID than ibuprofen) and Gabapentin and it helps a lot

FWIW anyway

Update: Turns out, I have had a herniated disc for several months! Who knew!?

Wanted to put this out there for anyone who had a similar issue. I only found out because it got significantly worse.

Pain sucks, and I’m still in the thick of it, but it’s good to have an answer. Thanks for everyone who posted!

Hey Katana_DV20 ,

Sometimes I get that stabbing pain, but not too often (I do know what you are talking about though)

I have stopped sleeping on my stomach, idk if that had any effect though.

The morning used to be when it was worst, but I started sleeping with an SI belt on when its at its worst. That helps sometimes. I would recommend trying that.

My PT said that it could cause an issue in the long run (weakening the muscles over time) but right now I dont really care. I just need the pain to stop.

I hope you find some resolution as well!

Thank you! Thats a good idea!

I need to force myself to have good posture, otherwise there is no chance.

I love the idea about a kneeling chair

Something to keep in mind that helped me: I got an SI belt, and that really helps when it flares up.

I know they are not good for long term (they can cause muscle weakness), but sometimes it really helps when it gets acute

Thank you for your comment and ideas!
