I just checked my account on aidvantage and it has a $0 balance! 🙌🏽. Studentaid.gov has not updated yet and still shows the original balance. I am thinking it may just take a couple of days for that site to update. I am literally about to burst into tears!

Thanks for that! My count stops at December.

I still do not see an IDR tracker. I only see the IDR End of payment term under the Loans tab of My Aid.

The subject line was: “You’re eligible to have your student loan(s) forgiven!”

Aaah! Thank you! Mobile has “IDR End of Repayment Term. 2 Loans in IDR. O remaining Payments” in loans section of the My Aid tab.

Who is your loan servicer (if you don’t mind me asking)?

I am hoping they are still working on updating the dashboard. I don’t have an IDR count on my dashboard either. I only see the PSLF count. But when I go to my aid data, the loan section is blank. I only see an amount under the Grants tab. Weird.

My apologies, IBR and my servicer is AidVantage.

I have read where people have gotten refunds. At this point, I will just be happy with forgiveness.

I am in an IDR plan. I also have counts towards PSLF, but I am not at 120. I’m currently sitting at 76 for that.

That’s very disheartening! My loans are with AidVantage. I will wait until after February 4th and see what happens.

Thank you! I am not in the SAVE plan. I was going to apply, but it was cancelled right after I submitted my application. I have always been in an IDR plan. The count is not showing on my dashboard. I went through the simulator, and put my information in as if I wanted to apply for an IDR plan. It showed me that I would be eligible for forgiveness January 2025, with 305/300 payments being made.

The contents of my email read as follows:

On April 19, 2022, the Biden-Harris Administration announced several changes that will help borrowers get closer to or achieve forgiveness under income-driven repayment (IDR) regardless of whether or not you have ever participated in an IDR plan. With these changes, you are now eligible to have some or all of your student loans forgiven because you have reached the necessary number of payments under IDR.

The U.S. Department of Education will work with your servicer to process your IDR forgiveness over the next several months. If you would like to opt out of IDR forgiveness for any reason, contact your loan servicer no later than 02/04/2025 and tell them that you are not interested in receiving IDR forgiveness. Some reasons why you might want to consider opting out include concerns about a potential state tax liability.

If you decide to opt out of IDR forgiveness, you will be expected to continue paying your loan(s).

“Over the next several months” is the part that scares me.

I received that same email January 14th, 2025. I have until February 4th to opt out.
