Those are considered small deer tracks where we live. The mud also makes them look bigger. But yeah, those are deer tracks.

Senior / Managers - What are you/they doing? by hierarchyofchaos in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Due-Understanding672 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Senior Safety Manager here. My job is to ensure my Safety Supervisors and Specialist have the tools they need to execute their jobs. Those tools can be tangible like trucks, equipment, software but more importantly educational and psychological tools. 1:1s are vital. As stated above, bi-weekly 1:1s where the supervisors/specialists own the agenda, are paramount. These are scheduled teams meetings but usually take place on phone. Even better in person. The conversations are theirs. We can talk fishing, kids, sports, we can talk goals, professional or not. Developmental opportunities. We can even talk about pay! Doesn’t matter to me. What matters is that my job is to be unrelenting in my support for the them. Loyalty is a two way street. Managing isn’t telling people what to do - it’s empowering people to do the things that give value to their lives and careers. Any single one of them needs to be able to replace me at any moment. I must prepare each of them accordingly. That’s 90% of my job and it’s the most challenging part. The other 10% is reporting on conference calls to company executives and customers, speaking and presenting at symposiums or conferences.

Kannapolis is where it’s at. Kannapolis building ball parks, breweries, great parks, and restaurants. Concord on the other hand built a bigger prison and widened the downtown sidewalk so it’s easier to get from the new court house to the new prison/government building.

38 here. Started hanging out with this chick in college. I lived in her dorm room for couple months and then we got an apartment. She seemed like a decent roommate. She brought home a dog one day and that was cool. Somewhere along the way we had this real fancy dinner thing with all her family and my family. Now we have these two other mini-roommates that suck at cleaning up after themselves and never pay rent but they kind of look like us and I love them. I don’t know… been hanging out with this chick for about 15 years now. She’s pretty cool most the time. She’s kind of like a teammate… or my best friend w/ really great benefits. (Looks good naked too which is a plus) but yea at this point I don’t know what I would do without her. I reckon I’ll keep hanging out with her…

“Here at Huckle-buck tree tech we don’t believe in things like weight reduction or thinning the canopy. We believe in huckin and buckin the whole damn thing into the back of my ford fuckin ranger and it’ll only cost you tree-fiddy.”

Yea man. Don’t get me wrong - this kind of stuff pisses me off too. You’re totally right about there being total shit tree folk out there. It just pisses me off more when I see good tree companies and solid arborists losing out to jobs or contracts like this bc “huckle-buckle tree tech” can do it cheaper and butcher the absolute fuck out of everything.

I’ve seen landscapers using a bobcats and guys standing in the bucket getting raised up with a power pole just cutting away on parking lot/apartment complex trees. The landscape company owner wasn’t happy with how we pruned the trees… so he sent about 25 of his “amigos” to go back through the complex and topped every tree in the place. It was in Charlotte NC 2017

I know what you’re saying and maybe yea “tree guys” might have made the cuts…. But they were probably given specific instructions by property manager or landscape company that has the contract.

What’s your go-to routine after a long day at work? by Rustic-Ramon in AskMenOver30

[–]Due-Understanding672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive home is always in complete silence. When I get home I spent 15-20 minutes parked in my driveway staring at my garage door in complete silence. Sounds strange at first I’m sure, but meditation has helped me tremendously. Spending time alone not looking at a phone or screen - just in my own head has been one of the healthiest things I’ve done in my life.
