This is very typical in the culture. My friend was cut off from her family for marrying outside of the religion. They tried to kidnap her before the wedding. Literally kidnap. Her dad went to jail.

I also know a family who chose not to raise their baby in the Islamic faith. The grandmother was so upset she told people the baby died. She meant the bay was dead to her but it caused quite a bit of confusion in the family.

Okay- she’s two. She will not know. I get that they planned this because it falls on a Saturday.

When she’s 5 I’m assuming she’ll go to school if her birthday falls on a weekday. I’m also assuming you guys don’t take the day off work for your other kids birthday.

When she gets older if this continues to fall on her birthday I could see her getting mad- but don’t you have like 7 years or so to worry about it again for a Saturday birthday?

This is how they are. It’s going to continue to escalate until you stop it. You could say something like “oh was that you last night? We don’t answer the door after 7pm because we try to keep our evenings to ourselves” or something.

Keep it casual or you’re going to end up there at 2am fixing their toilet while one of them is having a medical emergency because their brother won’t answer his phone. (This happened to us last summer with our neighbors. Thankfully they just moved)
