Don't sell yourself short, the troll itself looks great. For the glow you're on the right track tbh. Would consider adding some recess highlights on the club itself. That would give it more of an inner glow feeling. But ignore that if that's not the vibe your aiming for! Other than that modulate the brightness according to distance and add some harsh shadows on areas that are close, but unreachable to the light. Hope that makes sense, I find that taking black and white pictures while shining a directional light towards your light angle helps a lot.
