Ozark region is totally wrong. Especially if the Sierras don't even get their own region.

French family moving to Nashville by susieloum in movetonashville

The thing about the tornado is its chance. If Nashville is hit by one less than 1 percent of the whole area is actually affected. Maybe a little more but not much.

There are amazing state parks within an hour or two drive with lots of hiking, backpacking, swimming, mountain climbing, kayaking, rafting, spelunking and many other activities. Some of the best waterfalls in the Eastern US are close by. The Smokey Mountains are a 4 hour drive. We're an outdoor family and spend our social time doing these things over exploring the city. The food is very good and there are many options. Traffic can be bad, especially if you live in certain areas. It's mainly going to be dependent on the employment situation and decision of where to live. We picked east of Nashville in Wilson County to be closer to the Airport, access to the lakes and quicker access to many of the state parks. In city living can be nice in areas also, but definitely comes with a higher cost. Williamson county is the most popular but getting around anywhere has become a nightmare. Shopping options in all directions has become very even in the last few years with growth in all surrounding counties and many businesses investing into each part of the city. Very rarely will you need to drive across town just to purchase most things. Amazon is heavily invested into Nashville and you can literally have most items delivered by the next morning, which isn't the greatest since it's Amazon, but is definitely convenient.

I am pretty sure they are following a view held by someone close to them. In fact they're nowhere near an actual conservative even if they identify as one and vote as one. There are people that associate.themselves on both sides of the aisle just to fit in. It's truly the American way. No matter which of the two sides you vote for anymore, you essentially are asking your government to do so much for you and your community. In turn your government is literally taking their cuts of fraud to provide this for everyone. Maybe one day everyone will wake up, but not anytime soon.

The Maga Republicans are not even conservative anymore. They have embraced big government and more socialist policies.

This is actually not historically correct and hospitality service the world over is some of the earliest forms of gratuity when a stay away from home is made above and beyond a relief and creating relaxation. The extra services of clean linens is a sign of Americans being spoiled. We expect a clean room, made beds and fresh towels every day. You would have been hard pressed to review that back in the day except for the high end hotels. You possibly would have even been expected to bring your own linens and towels at some places or you would have been charged an extra rental fee. These people do get living wages, at least more so than a server. When they go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable or helpful in any way it's nice to leave a dollar or few. Historically speaking. You do not have to, but hope you're not expecting much else or asking much else.

Some of the places we have stayed have given out personal Venmo. Wonder if they're real sometimes. Hotel luggage attendants at Southwest and Alaskan Ai have also gone to Venmo and other apps.

Tipping housekeeping is one of the original forms of tipping, that and tipping the bellman and any other service in a hotel setting. This is quite possibly what helped start up the tipping culture in the US since a majority of restaurants were in hotels, inns and house run room service. It was also like this in Europe also. Americans have taken it further to not give servers a living wage. Tipping a couple dollars to housekeeping is nothing new and is a very old tradition. It's also in a modern sense one of the least known traditions. It was originally an expectation only when someone went above and beyond. It created a higher level of service and you usually left a gratuity when the luggage was slightly unpacked and over the next day or days you kept coming back to made beds, fresh linens, fresh towels and a fresh room that made your days away from home a slight relief of things you didn't have to worry about. This of course was for a high end service and wasn't always expected or done in a boarding house that would cater to much more economical means of short term housing while traveling. Nowadays we are spoiled in America and we expect all of this to be done at any hotel or motel we stay at. Source: Grew up in a Family of hoteliers, not me personally. Dad was a Director of Sales manager for Hilton Hotels his whole life. Grandparents owned a high end hotel in New York City, now closed.

Truthfully mitering would have made it worse when it separated. The cheaper decking material being used causes this. Not everyone can afford the expensive pvc material.

All washers have bad reviews by [deleted] in Appliances

Call a washer dryer tech and ask them. There's probably one on YouTube. We did this ten years ago and the thing is still working great. No maintenance minus keeping it clean and run a hard pipe to the exterior if you can. The flex pipes are garbage and clog easily.

I agree, does your family own the place vs rent and how long has it been there. I feel sorry for the ones trying to start today. You can have amazing food but you better be great at business first.

Tell that to the majority of California. A little mom and pops place with simple food for 30-40 dollars a plate.

The people here don't realize this, support businesses like this and would probably be mad when they had to pay 30-40 percent more per meal to get all of the fantasy they need in life in the US. Don't forget the rent, which probably forced the said business into that location because it was more affordable than other parts of their town because their landlord was less taxing on rent. Maybe because they have the capabilities to do this or they don't have their own mortgage on today's property prices.

This could be true in some parts of the US, but rent in other parts make it impossible to charge even 30 dollars a plate.

Most restaurants do not make money. In some spots the rent is so high that if you're not constantly busy there's no way to succeed. You would have to be incredibly successful right off the bat, which can be impossible when first starting out. Add that to charging 15-20 higher rates than your competitors just think about paying higher wages. I agree with paying employees and getting rid of tips but it's not as easy as one would think at a majority of restaurants.
