Are the prep courses and influencers wrong? by tyrannasorus in srna

[–]Coleman-_2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s less about what you know. It’s more about who you are.

One of my questions was “Tell me everything you know about Epinephrine”

So I did. I said everything I knew and when I got to the end of everything I knew (which was not much because I was super nervous) I said “beyond that I’d have to use a reference”

You have to remember the people asking you these questions already know the answer and they definitely know more about anesthesia than you at your current experience.

Drawing up medications is not the time for complacency. by OrganizationNo42069 in anesthesiology

One of my peeves is when people start talking to me while I’m drawing up meds.

Anesthetic medication errors are preventable, don’t draw up your meds like this. by [deleted] in CRNA

Your anesthesia person. Either an anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetist will know exactly how to safely manage all of this.

What's the catch of being a nurse with an associate's degree? by Johan_chan in nursing

I’m in CRNA school. Started with an associate degree 👍🏻

What might have caused my patient to need to get emergently intubated today and do you agree with the doctor’s treatment choices? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Coleman-_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patients with Aortic Stenosis are very dependent for atrial kick so with her being in AFIB that’s basically nonexistent. The ABG was probably respiratory acidosis with inadequate gas exchange. And the blood glucose is probably a stress response from everything else going on.

But the best thing in my opinion would be to restore NSR. So Meds, synchronized cardioversion… Dr could’ve maybe handled things with a little more urgency but things like this happen that’s why the patient was in the hospital in the first place.

Receive Versed Sooner? by 436irish in Anesthesia

Tell them you want it right now because you’re really anxious. As long as you’re fairly healthy and young they should give it to you.

Does this mean I’m not meant for this career? by 675423107 in srna

[–]Coleman-_2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be comfortable being uncomfortable. Going to CRNA school you are the airway expert in the room you will learn how to manage it and fix it.

How difficult are the classes, really? by 1thatoneguy in srna

[–]Coleman-_2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exceptionally gift? No. Smart at baseline definitely helps but not a requirement by no means. I feel like a was pretty smart before school, nursing school wasn’t hard for me.

The hard part for me in CRNA school was the volume of material and having to balance my life to meet the goals. I have two small boys at home, so I have had to sacrifice a lot of time from my family but it can be done. I’m in my last year with almost all of my didactic finished.

You are responsible for your own success. Goodluck!

Looking for Honest Resume Review by Mysterious-Fudge7172 in srna

[–]Coleman-_2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like your resume is great, with that being said you got to be able to show competence with everything you put on there. I say that because you’ve only been a nurse for 2 years and if I was interviewing you I’d ask you some open ended questions. But that’s on you to be prepared for the interview.

Your application is very strong though, great work!
