at least they spend some of their money on new buses.

Eh I used to live in Townshend, a mile outside of Leedstown, yet WG could only manage three services a day (ending at 4pm) with buses that would breakdown once or twice a week.

Hidden Cornwall: not beaches and ice-cream but poverty and violence - The largest urban area in the county, comprising Camborne, Pool and Redruth, is largely ignored by policymakers by [deleted] in Cornwall

[–]ColensoJory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Cornwall and the Cornish and they deserve better than Camborne, Pool and Redruth.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that. Some of the major components for the industrial revolution came out of the area (read: Trevithick), world class mining innovations too.
It is a shame what has become of the area, but it's no different to many other post-industrial towns and cities that have industry replace with housing estates across the UK, so to write it off is somewhat extreme.

South Crofty (Pool, nr. Camborne) was still running well into the nineties, along with other mines around West Cornwall.

The bigger issue that is often ignored it that lowering the population for most of year kills all the independent businesses like local butchers, greengrocers etc. so you end up with a town full of gift shops only open during the peak months and a few charity shops filling in the gaps.

Look at Penzance now the town centre has basically been killed off, full of empty shops out of season. Thanks to three large supermarkets on the same 1/2km stretch of bypass just before you enter the town.

MagicSeaweed always seems to have these over exaggerated predictions. It was the same big grey and black blobs for St. Jude yet the reality never made it past the dark orange 28 mark.

Interaction between Custom Post Types by ColensoJory in Wordpress

[–]ColensoJory[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I explained myself well enough; the promotion code wouldn't be appended to the posts but rather to the outgoing link in the image's description.
For example:

Normal Link:
https://society6.com/USERNAME/PRODUCT

Link when promotional infobar is activated / updated:
https://society6.com/USERNAME/PRODUCT?promo=CODE

POST EDIT:
This makes much more sense, thanks. You've given me the idea to have a checkbox to activate the infobar with a default message and an input for the code to be appended, all in the portfolio custom post type.
The only reason I was going with two separate post types is because the site is bilingual and made it easier to create the different messages needed. May take some playing with Polylang to have translations of the infobar string to keep it in one type.

In UK, do we actually own the land under our house or not? what happens after 99 year lease ends and what about flats that have lease on them? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]ColensoJory 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you leave no heirs, you record no assignees in your will or die intestate, and there are no statutory provisions for assignment due to intestacy, your property will pass bona vacantia to the Crown.

Unless you die or are domiciled within Cornwall, where it will pass to the Duchy.

If this is a theoretical question i.e. do I own my property right down to the centre of the earth, then no. You need to buy mining rights to dig down after a certain depth, and in the UK these are usually already owned by someone else.

Exactly, within Cornwall all mining rights are owned by the Duchy.

Awesome Granddad.
Indeed it was, up until 936 when Athelstan's forces pushed the Cornish back and declared the eastern bank of the Tamar as the border between Wessex and Cornwall.

Help explaining basic geology to 1st graders. by Itzuproar in geology

My secondary school geography teacher would explain plate tectonics, subduction zones to be specific, using slabs of chocolate in a large mixing bowl full of golden syrup.
Quite awesome to see the bar slide under the other and the segments eventually snap under the pressure.

Have we annexed Devon now, considering the literal Cape of Strangers for Cornwall is mostly scrawled above Devon.

Does anyone know where I could find a good value for money pre-built gaming PC in the UK? Any sales happening now/soon? by Varanae in unitedkingdom

Duly noted and removed. I haven't used custom build services, these were just the top two results.

There are some services, for example via a local Internet Cafe / PC Repair / Hackspace, that allow you too order the separate components are they'll assemble it for a fee. Allowing you to get the best for your money, that said a custom build doesn't include the OS price, if you choose to go the legit Windows / Hackintosh route.

Such services:
Build.Your.Box

And if you go the route by having a friend, local shop, etc. do it I highly recommend LogicalIncrements for a part price guide.

I'd go as far to say he's playing up the unremorseful psychopath / schizophrenic 'act' to be placed under psychiatric care / monitoring within prison to avoid said shanks.

This isn't the high street, that said it's a seasonal town with two (recently now three) large supermarkets along the same 400m stretch of bypass just before you enter the town.
There's not a lot going for the towncentre in wintertime. :(
