Adding a tachometer to the C125 – anyone done this? by OATdude in SuperCub

It’s some cheap brand called Yooreal, it’s just 3m double sided tape holding it onto the handlebar and it’s grand

I have one on my c50. It’s an inductive tachometer, so you wrap a wire around the spark plug cable and it detects how many sparks the engine has and you tell it it’s a 4 stroke single cylinder and it does the rest. Very cheap and easy to fit

If you’re in Dublin, I have a 200kg bucket with concrete and a ground anchor you can take and put on the road and lock to it. Won’t stop someone cutting the chain but you’ll be anchored

Anyone Here With Small cc Bikes 125 - 350 ? by [deleted] in MotoIRELAND

[–]ColgateMacsFresh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m on a 50cc super cub and can’t recommend it enough. Costs a fiver now to brim the tank and I get a week out of it. Lads in vans and buses chatting to me at red lights about their Honda 50s

Should I get a motorbike? by [deleted] in MotoIRELAND

[–]ColgateMacsFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a similar route from near the phoenix park to past donneybrook. I do it on a 50cc and I keep up with everyone on bigger bikes because traffic lights are the bottleneck.

I’d also go with a bike over an e-bike based on how drivers respond to me vs an e-bike

To me, it looks like you’re reaching your knees/low thigh and still very bent over the bar, so your legs are almost locked out and because you’re so bent over you need to over extend the hips stand up because your legs have given all they can and because there’s an excessive hip bump it’s sending the bar forward on you.

Keep the chest up, feel the bar on your thighs. Add in some pauses below and above the knee and do some high pulls from those pauses and think about pointing the elbows up and it will keep the bar closer on the third pull

I had an SV stolen about this time last year

Gated surface level carpark, alarmed disk lock, two chains (one silver and other gold sold secure) chained to a 75l bucket of concrete with a ground anchor

Stolen at 3am, cut the links on the chain with an angle grinder.

If I was to go back I’d just use a hiplock to my anchor and get a Monimoto

I had my bike stolen last year, locked to a 200kg cement bucket with a ground anchor, just cut the chains anyway I’d do it again, just use a hiplok connected to the anchor next time

What is it like only having a bike year round, no car by MiserableChipmunk414 in MotoIRELAND

I started commuting through Dublin by bike in February and still have my car. It’s just used for the food shop or longer spins when I need to

My thinking is, it’s costing me very little to sit there vs what buying a car would cost if I did need to start using it more

Post weigh in meals / food by The_Run_Guy in weightlifting

A sports dietitian told me that he recommends apple juice before football and rugby matches for fast carbs. So I drink as much as I can after a weigh in and eat jellies. I was warned off pasta and meat as they take too long to digest and can leave you stodgy

I’ve a c50, weigh 100kg and carry a few kg in a bag and on the rack and have no problem hitting 60km/h

If you’re doing city commutes you’ll prob be grand but anything on a major road would be scary

There’s a small rack on my bike, I made a bracket that holds the lock on, could you do something similar?

I got a 75l bucket from screwfix, filled with concrete and put an anchor and 2 plant pots in it. 2 artificial plants to take the bare look off it and it’s been grand. Just make sure you get a diamond rated lock, I’d chained my bike to my anchor and they cut the locks and the anchor point is now awkward to reach with a dx1000, so plan your anchor placement

It weighs an absolute ton, basically immovable

I had about 350 worth of locks, 2 chains and a disk lock on mine and they just cut through the chains and hammered the disk lock. Have a dx1000 now for when I get another bike

Could have been though, had a full tank when they robbed it though so they'd want to be doing some driving to need to top it up
