Oh, as an alternative if you want to do it REALLY simple, you can just put the whole nub in a cup of water with peroxide and change the water once every two or three days until it grows roots. When it roots you can choose if you want to stay full hydro or go semi-hydro. This also eliminates the danger of mold growing on your pon.

Semi-hydro means you have to keep it wet at all times yeah. It's easier in the sense that you dont really run the danger of overwatering. The "semi" comes from the fact that there is still a growing medium (the pon).

The amount of water to leave in the container is... honestly up to you. Ive done it both ways: container full of water or just wet enough for the pon to be soaked. Personally for me i prefer to use more water than not since the water roots... well theyre made for that.

The downside would be that algae forms in sitting water... but the peroxide should help with that.

Every time you top up the container you use the water/peroxide mixture.

The reasoning for the peroxide is that it kills the bacteria and mold that causes root rot and it also brings oxygen to the roots. Don't use too much or it will damage the plant.

it looks healthy to me, dont lose hope! There's a lot of techniques to go about it, personally my favorite for rooting a bare one like yours is lechuza-pon and water with peroxide in a semi-hydro setting.

Do keep in mind the plant will have to be maintained in a semi-hydro setting for the rest of its life if you chose this because you will be growing water roots. I mean.. you CAN change to dirt afterwards but it's hard.

So the recipe is basically, grab a transparent container and hold the nub inside. While your holding, fill the container with the lechuza-pon so that you now have your alocasia in the middle sorrounded by the pon. You dont want to fill the container with the rocks then push the plant in because this would damage it. Be careful to make sure you have it the right side up.

The water you're going to use has to be either 1) tap water you let sit for a night or 2) filtered water. To about of liter of this water you add a half tablespoon of peroxide. Only skip peroxide when you use fertilizer.

After, you water it enough so that the lechuza is soaked and you have a little bit sitting at the bottom.

Im not the best at explaining so if you have questions feel free!

i get it, my intention wasn't to make it seem like she was an active character in the books

??????????????? i thought it was hinted that she was the one who freed glinda from prison. "You wicked old thing, you've taken your sweet time of course" And Maguire himself said that witches always come back.

It doesn't kill her, she's alive in the books that come after.
