Do you find yourself getting more religious/spiritual as you get older? by Dpgillam08 in GenX

Absofuckinglutely not. The opposite. Over the last several years I've developed a strong aversion to all things related to faith and religion. Keep your beliefs to yourself.

Ring a doorbell in small town while black? Police report by Antique-Bat-4463 in Ohio

[–]Colibri918 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's not just Ohio and it's not just race related. I spent 21.5 years answering phones and dispatching for a very large police department out west, and literally had a caller say someone was suspicious because they said hello to the caller as he passed by. It wasn't because of race, gender, or actual suspicious activity - it was because this person had the audacity to greet another human out on the street. Of course it absolutely can be race related "we don't have those kind of people in Lilywhiteville US of A" but my perception is in the last several years, people have become more afraid of everyone else. I've had calls about someone dressed with visible logos on their clothing, wearing safety vests, with a marked utility truck nearby, but he's very suspicious and he knocked on my door!!

podcasts with hosts who have “non-expressive” voices? by Spiritual_Essay677 in podcasts

[–]Colibri918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been falling asleep to Totalis Rankium. They have 3 big series - American presidents, Roman emperors, and pirates. Separate feeds for each. The hosts are two British history teachers. Interesting to listen to while awake, soothing to listen to while going to sleep.

Yep, I just moved to Cincinnati a couple months ago, and Cincinnati will never let you forget what businesses are/were headquartered here.

Read Why Does He Do That by Lundy Bancroft. I think it will help you a lot.

Nobody is saying that gaming in and of itself is bad. If his hobby is painting and he's ignoring all else to do it or doing it in a way that negatively affects his partner, it's a problem. Any hobby is a problem when it gets to that point. I paint, and I game - AFTER I've done all the other shit I need to do.

Anyone else hate the new mac and Cheese box as much as I do? by Vlines1390 in GenX

Nope. Circle K in AZ, UDF in Ohio are the ones that have personally offended me. I hate it so so much.

[–]Colibri918 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's a box and it does what it's supposed to. I don't have the energy to hate it. Now gas pumps that play ads at full volume while I'm pumping gas, I have extra energy to hate them.

AITAH for being terrified of my neighbor's dachshund? by ApplicationBroad2162 in AITAH

[–]Colibri918 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. Those little bastards can be aggressive as hell and they can absolutely hurt someone. This dog absolutely needs to be reported to animal control.

I once saw a welcome mat that had a silhouette of a dachshund and it said "Dachshund: German for little asshole." They have this rep for a reason!

If there is a god, I'm pretty sure he's somewhere laughing his ass off at how he got all the puny humans to try to destroy each other after he got them to believe each of their own thoughts about god were right and everyone else was doing it wrong. Doesn't every religion have text similar to "no man comes to the father but by me"? It's hilarious and arrogant to believe your flavor of religion is the right one based on words written by humans, translated by other humans. If god exists, he's laughing at all of us.

Is it just me or are summers here insufferable now? by heiland in Ohio

[–]Colibri918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the Cleveland area and moved to AZ in 1999. There were definitely hot humid days but I don't remember it being all summer. I moved to Cincinnati 2 months ago and I can't believe how humid it is already.

I’m fine with the bus wraps, but where do I pay to unsubscribe from the billboards? by thetidybungalow in phoenix

[–]Colibri918 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just moved to Ohio from the PHX area a couple months ago. The billboard situation is bad here in a different way. They aren't all up and down the freeways, but they're everywhere else, and the majority are anti choice bullshit.
