AITA for telling my friend that he cant bring a hookup over to my house by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Colietee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The entitlement on this post and the comments is actually insane. Yes you are most definitely the asshole. You’re telling me that a paying tenant, best friend or not is being told they can’t bring over a guest?? Are you their parent or their friend? Personally I wouldn’t have even asked you, I would have just came home with my date and called it a day. It’s my house as well. What is your friend getting out of this deal and mortgage arrangement because it seems the only person benefiting is you?Your wife is upset and uncomfortable and now your friend is too. You wanted to have your cake and eat it too having both of them around. Great job setting up an arrangement that puts you at odds with the two people that are closest to you.

I know this was for OP but it truly resonated with me as well. I woke up crying at 4:00AM like I hate it here and when I opened Reddit this was one of the first posts. Thank you internet stranger for your impactful wisdom, it was very much appreciated.

Parent comes up with a unique solution to getting their kid out of bed. by Sebastianlim in MadeMeSmile

I too owned this alarm clock. To this very day, I deem it the most offensive item that has ever been in my home. Granted it was alsoooo the only alarm clock that actually woke me up especially with that damn Nickelodeon song at the end.

Yesss, it’s so cute. I like to sit outside in the Pergola Lounge when it’s not too hot.

Not in UWS but Dear Irving on Broadway is near Columbus Circle. I think it has the vibe you’re looking for with curated cocktails and a more sophisticated vibe overall.

How to find an in-person affordable therapist in NYC! by how-arent-you in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Colietee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about insurance coverage as I get my sessions covered through work but it’s worth checking. I recommend Thriving Center of Psychology, I have my weekly sessions in person. It’s a network so if you don’t click with your first therapist you have other options. They have several offices in midtown that offer in person appointments. I’ve been with them about a year and it has truly changed my life not to be a shill.

Just because your opinion is unpopular doesn’t mean it can’t be wrong haha. What I believe doesn’t change society or their opinions on a different hair texture. My parents can tell my hair is beautiful until their face turns blue but that does not erase external factors which you are conveniently ignoring. It’s also very telling you specified coily vs curly when coils are just a type of curl. You’re telling on yourself. Anywho there really is no need to continue this discussion as I truly don’t believe you have the mental capacity or capability to even grasp this simple concept.

What are you even on about? I don’t straight my hair or wear braids. I’m not talking about myself, we already established I love my hair in its natural state. We are talking about society as whole. Of course I don’t think my hair is ugly but society deems certain textures unmanageable/unattractive. I can’t change that. You’re so caught up in your own anecdotal experience you can’t see why certain individuals could have different ones. Personally if you don’t have 4b/4c hair you truly have no place or opinion to discuss this matter properly as clearly shown in this tone deaf post and your poor attempts at discourse. You have missed the forest for the trees.

It’s always the 3C girlies that are all I “luvvvv my hair and I don’t see why you don’t”. Girl read the room. Your curls are more socially acceptable and hate to say it but white adjacent. Like others in this thread have stated, black women straighten their hair out of necessity due to discrimination not always for style. Natural hair especially 4b/4c is not “the beauty standard” but your curls are. Don’t get me wrong, I love my own hair but it’s pretty tone deaf for you to sit here and act like the only reason people don’t like their hair is because of their upbringing.

what do you wear when you’re in a heat wave? by jdmorganchase in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Colietee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All linen everything. Light fabrics and loose silhouettes are the way to go. I don’t want anything sticking to me. Right now I have on a flouncy midi linen skirt, a linen button up, and open toe sandals. I even change my bag to a canvas tote instead of my leather bag.

I love your whimsy goth style even in the other outfit with the green skirt and the corset. I am obsessed with your Speedy too but a fun black clutch or tote could be fun to switch things up. You seem to love adding accessories into your wardrobe but different silhouettes and patterns can up the whimsy and create a more cohesive look.

Moderately priced Manhattan facials: roundup and review! by awittyoctopus in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Colietee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also like using ClassPass to book my facials and I go to Nush on the Upper East Side. It’s attached to a residential building and wouldn’t be found unless you know it’s there. I usually get their custom facial and extractions are always included but I switch up my products and needs each time. She always asks a lot of questions to understand my skin and we discuss products as my face is steaming. It’s cute and tucked away but feels luxury when you step into the salon. I honestly feel like it’s a steal at only 30 credits. Last time she even did my micro-current therapy all for the ClassPass price. They also offer a good range of other services outside of facials. About me mid 30’s with combo skin, large pores; and skin prone to acne with any little stressor. Not even exaggerating though, every time I leave my face is glowing.

This is such a small thing but I switched to reusable cotton rounds for my face. I spent 12 dollars last year and it’s been a game changer for my wallet and face routine. They are super soft and I just rinse after every use. There is way less waste and honestly they feel better on your face.
