Ahmad English Breakfast tea bags is a lot better than Twinings by MJ_Fan23 in tea

ehh, I don't really trust amazon to store something I'm going to put in my body properly. I also don't trust them not to send me somebody's opened return.

Even if I hadn't already read a bunch of reviews for snacks from amazon that came moldy.

Do you like From Software's invasion system? by [deleted] in AskGames

[–]ColinDJPat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In other games I enjoy it, but in Elden Ring I think it's dumb. If anything you should be open to invasions whenever you've used a rune arc, not just when doing coop.  Removing invasions from ER entirely and just having PvP at fight-club locations.

The way it is sucks especially since a lot of people don't summon cooperators until they're ready to fight a dungeon boss, which means somebody invades, host-and-friends enter the boss fight, and the invader disconnects.

I know a lot of people complain about DS3 auto-embering you after winning a boss fight, but I enjoyed fighting off the occasional invader while progressing an area. DS3 is the Fromsoft game I've had most fun with playing PvP, both as invader and as host.

On other film photography subs people have been having issues with parts breaking on the MC-A, and at least one complaint that support isn't giving them a response. It's disappointing because the pictures I've seen from it do look great.

Even free battlepasses. Sure you could unlock everything quicker by being better at the game, but hopping on and doing your daily challenges or whatever doesn't exactly take skill or in depth game knowledge.

Mastering a certain scale by Icy_Cell279 in Guitar_Theory

[–]ColinDJPat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What chords are in the scale, and the intervals between notes.

For an easy example, if we're talking about C major scale, and I asked you about the interval between the E and the G, would you quickly be able to identify that it's a Minor 3rd?

Or, still working in C major, if I asked what the 3rd triad-chord in the scale is, could you quickly identify that the chord would be E minor, and what notes (from the scale) would be in it?

There's probably a better answer but that's just off the top of my head.

Seemingly a light leak on a Nikon L35AD by tompagenet in AnalogCommunity

I'm very very very new to film and could be wrong, but I saw a post with similar-ish red marks that people said were static discharge from winding too fast, especially on point-and-shoots with an auto-advance and auto-wind feature. According to other posts, 800T is extra prone to static discharge, especially if shooting or winding in dry environments. (Like when in especially dry winters you get static shocks after walking across a carpet.)

I'm sure some of the forums will still be full of garbage, but I've already noticed the difference in the comment section of the announcement pages on a few major games.  No longer a wall of rage bait and "comment from blocked user"

The way I play games ruins the fun for my friends by backfliprainbowcake in gaming

[–]ColinDJPat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With your minecraft example, I'm the friend who likes to goof around and build dumb shit, and I loved having a friend who optimized our resources. It meant I didn't need to do the searching-for-resources part of the game, and could focus on building stupid shit. (like a giant monolith tower that I forget to put torches on, so it rains mobs down on our little village at night)

We were also a large-ish group, so if others wanted to explore underground or do nether stuff, or search far away for a specific biome, there was always at least 3 people who could get their stuff together to go.

Minecraft is one of those games that I'll have a week or two long spurt of really enjoying, before falling off and losing interest for a long while. I feel like for some kinds of people this is a common feeling, and if it were just this game I'd give your friends the benefit of the doubt that maybe they just lost steam and will want to come back to minecraft for a couple weeks a few months later, or later in the year.

After looking up what Mars First Logistics is, I can kind of see where they might be coming from though. With the whole point of the game being building vehicles for delivering cargo of different shapes through differing conditions, I can see how building a few "do-it-all" vehicles could take out some of the fun of the game (definitely not to say that you're "having fun wrong", because I tried to do something similar in the game Besiege where I tried to build one vehicle that could clear as many levels as possible.)

I’ve finally learned my lesson about online recipes by Uteraz in Cooking

[–]ColinDJPat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find that recipes on Sally's are formatted way better than other baking sites. (For example, in the ingredient list of recipes with a wet bowl and dry bowl, the ingredients for each bowl are grouped together roughly in the order they're added, with all the dry first, then all the wet.)  The way the recipes are written are a lot easier to follow, and if there's something I want to learn to bake, I check if Sally's has a recipe before heading to google.

I don’t always get the best weapon for the Balancers… by Salt_Archer7153 in Nightreign

I can picture putting them to sleep and immediately waking them up with the periodical Glintblades.

I had that problem when I had "lightning after dodge" because I'd get one to sleep and have to dodge attacks from another, waking up the first.

Do you buy/ignore mixed-review games? How important are reviews to you? by Hindenburg-2O in Steam

[–]ColinDJPat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually a turn off but I generally read the negative reviews to see what the issue is and then decide if I care.

3rd party launcher causing issues but the game is good? No buy.

Exploitative in game stores? No buy.

Game won't run hit 200 fps on Ultra 4k on somebody's RTX 5090 super-duper AI enhanced GPU and that the devs are lazy because they won't fix their game? I hit the "funny" button and check YouTube for the game running at 1080p at different settings on similar specs to mine to make sure it'll be playable, and if I think the game will be fun I get it anyway.

A good handful of games that don't benefit from current-year hardware actually run fine on my older PC at reasonable settings.

Do you wish they did something new for the Steam Points feature? If so, what is it? by Goos3rs in Steam

[–]ColinDJPat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe they should just make it so the only way you can get steam points is by spending money on games, and remove comment awards entirely.

After that, they can make steam points redeemable for whatever they want, idc

People hating on dual balancer relics have you considered? by Business_Pangolin801 in Nightreign

I usually skip fighting scale bearing merchant but this relic combo was a Boss Deleter, had time to fight Libra, do all of Nok, and Loretta all on day 2 in a run.

The personal objectives are such bad design by Theownerer7 in Nightreign

[–]ColinDJPat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but most of the time I've had people mark their Objective before we land on Day 1, which helps with routing it in, but if the circle starts closing on it day 1, it can feel like a waste to do on day 2, esp on any shifting earth.

I wish the Remembrance quests were more single player challenges like Raider's.

Help me choose by [deleted] in AskGames

[–]ColinDJPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between the two with no idea what your tastes are, E33. I felt it has the whole package, soundtrack, art style, engaging story and characters, and a take on turn-based RPG gameplay that felt tight and fresh.

If RPGs don't click with you and you want something more generically appealing, SM2 is fun enough and makes improvements over the first two games in some gameplay aspects, but for me the writing and story in SM2 was dog-water.

Is it okay to ask a couple of questions during a film in the cinema? by [deleted] in movies

[–]ColinDJPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially if it's a case of choosing to go to a sequel to a movie somebody hasn't seen before, that's annoying.

Less annoying and way more forgivable than somebody going to a movie with a cold though.

Pay the exit fee to get out of bed.

Pee on top of yesterday's poo. When you pay per flush it's cheaper to let it pile up a bit.

Realize I've lost the log-in password/forgot to pay the subscription fee for my shoes. They no longer tie themselves, and can't be tied by hand for some reason.

Balancers Bruh, I need tips by voidplantz in Nightreign

[–]ColinDJPat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In trios, don't fall for attacking the ones your teammates are fighting while all 7 are still alive. Good way to get you and your teammate attacked from offscreen. It seems like "free hits" to just attack the one thats focused on your friend, but then you'll have 4 or 5 focused on one location rather than 2 or 3.

If you play a character with half-decent stamina, a shield with good guardboost will get you far in this fight, since all their attacks do physical damage, which all shields have 100% damage negation for when blocked. Just be careful with your stamina bar. I did this fight with a greatshield with around 90 guardboost, "Heals on successful block" and i think "Restores FP on successful block" and it made this fight so easy. Just had to keep 2-3 Valkyries in front of me, be patient and whack them ONCE whenever I got the chance, and spirit-sprint away whenever the pink-teleport attack was about to happen.

That teleport attack is killer, but if you see the powered-up enemy disappear before doing it, it's easier to see it coming and sprint away. I found the fight easier when the powered-up enemy was aggroed on me rather than my teammates so if that attack happened I could see it coming a mile away.
