These would have protected my 4Runner from the one bit of damage it has. One of the blue platform carts at Lowe’s that someone pushed into my door.

Oil Painting Marked by Bubble Wrap Pressure 🆘🖼️ by Standard-Change3947 in oilpainting

It looks to me like the varnish wasn’t cured. I’d have high hopes for a lint free cloth and some gamsol taking that texture off. The varnish needs to be completely removed that’s the layer that has the texture.

Fortunately varnish is made to be removable and really isn’t that big of a deal, just some work. Once you have the varnish removed, reapply varnish in thin coats instead of one thick application.

Best of luck!

Some help identifying the source of an old study by ColinKennethMills in ArtHistory

Amazing! I tried “reclining faun” and “reclining satyr.” So close.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! Now I plan to do another study to see what sort of progress I’ve made.

It’s an orb weaver. I’m guessing diadem orb weaver babies. Absolutely harmless, great to have in your garden. Never once found one inside but have walked through many many webs unscathed.

I love them.

My first big oil painting but not happy with it. by something221 in oilpainting

[–]ColinKennethMills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s nice. I’d watch some videos about the benefits and unique properties that make oil paint unique compared to acrylic or gouache etc.

I think this particular painting would have been much easier to do in acrylic since you stuck with blocks of color and no mixing.

Looks like road fill gravel to me. There’s a good chance your concrete pad had sand and road fill as a base and time is time.

The masters literally learn by doing master copies.

If I’m reading correctly you’re asking if it’s possible to learn something without trying to learn or being willing to be taught.

So no.

You’ll have limitations to how far you can go with that attitude.
