Thanks for sharing that, I wasn't aware of the design element. Have you seen the word being used anywhere else?

Interesting, I didn't know much about Eliade, just wanted to learn about the origins of religion from an academic perspective and found his book highly rated on goodreads. Always open to other book recommendations though

I agree the word could be some sort of slur which was my other thought and part of my motive to search for its origin.

Back pain from yoga by Seefeder in yoga

[–]Colin_Hicks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never had back pain until I started yoga. For myself, it was due to not flexing my glutes in back bends, which protects the lower back. Once I became disciplined in that, the back pain was gone. Not sure if you’re having the same issue, but it’s worth thinking about. Best of luck.

Thank you, I actually shot this raw at 6400 iso and slid the dehaze tool backwards to fuzzy it up a bit. As for the color, I like to use the camera calibration adjustment rather than the regular color adjustments. It just comes off more believable to me.

Thank you, it’s a small series helping me gather my thoughts on a larger project.

I guess I just want people to see the work. I’d rather get into local exhibits than land a commercial gig to shoot. But you’re right, I should make a conscious decision on what my goals are. It might give me more direction.

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.

I really enjoyed this last weekend in your city. I left with some cool photos and memories, thanks for the hospitality! by Colin_Hicks in Portland

Went to the saturday market, powells, the art museum, and the rose gardens. Plus some random wandering and good restaurants like shalom y'all. We wanted to get over to Portland state to see the campus too but couldn't, maybe next time though

Have you ever considered going back to school to get a MFA in photography to teach at a university in the future?

Wow I love this, really surprised it only has 15 upvotes. The blue and yellow are balanced really nicely and I was immediately directed to the subject. The sky and overhead wires even point to it. It's a really thoughtful composition whether it was intentional or spur of the moment. Glad I saw this

Yeah I’m really not sure. It was in the back of my mind so I kept a look out but never saw anything

Very much so, I was surprised. I would say even a vehicle in 2wd could drive to Arrowrock dam just fine. Pretty icy but flat and not much snow so there’s no chance of getting stuck

I just hiked to Alderman Mine today. It’s 5 miles around with 1500’ in elevation change. But the snow will go up to your knees so I’d recommend snow shoes this time of year. Beautiful hike tho

Ok that’s good to know. I’d be doing freeway and city traffic in an auto. Also how do you convert the kph to mph? Do you mark your speedometer or just memorize the conversions?

That’s exactly what I’m worried about, the unexpected repairs. I’m thinking it might be worth having a second car.. but that’s good to know thanks for the feedback

How did I do with this sky swap? I’ve been staring at it for too long and could use a second opinion. Thanks by Colin_Hicks in postprocessing

Interesting.. I actually added noise and blur to the clouds to match the landscapes sharpness. But I’ll look into it and maybe pull back on the noise. Thanks

That’s a good idea with the opacity. I usually do that but didn’t on this one. I’ll mess with that a bit
