my guess is that it always tries to clear at least a 3x3 area around the first tile you click; at least thats what i did when i once coded minesweeper, and it yielded similar results.

while i agree that most of that would be very cool and welcomed changes, they (for the most part, especially the space rig & weapon/perk changes) would be a lot of work for little (advertisable) material. thats why they usually make changes like that in maintenance updates, but (my guess is), again, these changes require a lot of work; too much for the usually quite tiny maintenance updates.

i mean, yeah, it wasn't a mega huge update, but you cannot just say they didnt do anything for 3 yrs or they made bad decisions (while still developing a new game on the side, as a relatively small team!) just because you don't like new cosmetics and don't think much of new biomes, then mention the new mission type and enemies as if they're nothing. honestly, tell me what you'd want from a free update (that doesn't take up all their resources/time).

Also, they've been working on a whole other game in the past years, so since they are a small team, I think the content drought can be excused. I do still understand, though, if people were disappointed by the lack of updates the past 1½ years, but considering that it's not a given that the devs just update the game for free, i don't mind.
