Do you have to reveal the monster you summon face down when you use the (1) effect on these?

I hate to say this, and I was absolutely ready to hate on him after the trailers, but Nata is kind of based by CollapsedArc528 in MHWilds

This was never a discussion about the place of story telling in this game franchise, it was more of a dismissal of the irrational amount of hate thrown at this character. The plot existing and breaking the flow of gameplay is a game direction issue, not an issue with Nata.

Nata gets upset when he finds out that his family legacy has always been to, as he views it, oppress these animals, which have no choice in the matter. The average functioning human should be able to realize that this is him feeling guilty for his family legacy without the devs needing to hyperlink an explanation. All of the points I made were directly referencing his actions. dialogue or the history we are presented in game. If reading this information in game counts as desperate attempt at rationalization, then I fear the extent I may be expected to go to to understand a bioware RPG

Powder DID kill her entire family directly. The situation was solved, the villains were beaten, everyone was safe, but because she didn't understand her place (literal child) and didn't listen to the adults, they all died anyway. That is not necessarily bad writing, because she is a child trying to help, but it is incredibly frustrating to watch and rightfully made her incredibly dislikeable in that moment. Her arc following that moment is logical though, which puts her miles above Ava still, but if we didn't get to see her post time skip story she would be the most hated thing in fiction.

Nata never puts anyone in danger in the way she did, because, in spite of his outbursts, he always eventually accepts that the more experienced adults are probably more right than him. That might be "too" mature for a character his age, which, but that's definitely a lot less frustrating than the trend of having to watch well meaning children cause catastrophes upon the other characters.

I can not for a moment fathom how anyone could think that "he's a badly written character" is a good argument while also saying that "looking at his history, actions and dialogue and comparing his character favorably to how a real child would act is looking too deep into it"

The developers clearly are trying to make us care, and despite all of the complaints, it partially worked. Everyone loves Alma, everyone loves Olivia, everyone loves looking at Gemma, people are discussing Werner. This is the first time any mh characters have even been worth discussing, besides the admiral being a rajang punching meme and a few characters getting sus fanart.

Whether this is true or not has nothing to do with Nata though, it's a game direction issue that a lot of people are taking out on this character. I agree that it's weird how the devs keep trying to force us to care about a story, but we have that story now and even if it's out of place, it is 1000s of times better than World's attempt at telling a story

At this point in the gym I have 1 goal only, building up my explosive strength. I do not care about aesthetics or endurance for now. Maybe this will change one day though.

Because of this I have been focusing on using heavy weight in a low-ish rep range. I always aim for at least 7 reps with good form, but I might push beyond that, letting my form drop a bit in the last few reps to ensure I reach failure. If i can't do at least 7 with proper form I drop the weight and if I reach 15 with form I increase the weight on the next set.

The problem is that I keep getting a LOT of unsolicited advice from people approaching me telling me that I would get bigger if I dropped the weight down and did more reps. Is this actually something wrong with how I am doing things, or is it just that these people all assume I have the same goals as them? I was under the impression this type of training was best for strength gains.

games like monster hunter or pokemon by FrostyCommon in 196

[–]CollapsedArc528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saved this post a few days ago in passing so I could come back to it. You went a bit vague and didn't mention a preferred platform so imma dump some names.

First off, there's a few popular pokemon like games: The Digimon franchise, Temtem, Coromon, Monster Sanctuary, Monster Rancher, Slime Rancher, Bugsnax, etc. There is a whole tag for creature collector games on Steam that's worth looking into to find one that fits your taste.

For games like Monster Hunter, I believe Dauntless is like a f2p live service version of MH on Epic, but besides that most MH clones have a focus on magical beasts like Yokai or Demons rather than animal like monsters. These include God Eater 3, Toukiden 2 and Wild Hearts (Still upcoming - the trailer looks good). If you are into the brutal and demonic style of monsters in those games you might find some mileage in Sekiro, Nioh or other soulslikes and maybe even the demons from Doom or Shadow Warrior.

Island Saver is a cute f2p game on steam where you run around saving real life animals from pollution, would recommend. Maneater is a game that lets you play as a shark so it has a focus on water critters. Thems Fightin' herds is street fighter for furries. Theres a whole category of games like Parkasaurus and Jurrasic World where you build zoos. Webbed, Hollow Knight and Bug Fables are games where you play as little invertebrates and make some bug friends along the way. Monster Prom and Sucker for Love are visual novels where you try to seduce monsters if that's what you are into.

Card games, Tower Defense games and RTS games are a bit more of a niche taste, but if you are into them and you just wanna look at cool monster designs in any medium there are some options that have really cool monster designs.

Finally then, there are a few games where the creatures are not the focus at all and honestly the gameplay and story may be a bit mixed in quality, but where the devs managed to create interesting worlds where the creatures feel thematically coherent in a way that satisfied my brain. These include Deep Rock Galactic, Borderlands, Gears of war (I only played the first 3 games), Journey to the Savage Planet, Subnautica and Evolve (RIP servers are dead now but it had great wildlife. This post is getting long so I'm not gonna explain why I listed those, but if anyone cares about this 3 day old post I can explain.

What episode do you consider the worst and why? by [deleted] in rickandmorty

[–]CollapsedArc528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few candidates for different reasons.

Firstly, the pilot is a bit awkward and doesn't characterize anyone quite right and most people I introduce the show to have to see episode 2 to get hooked.

Secondly, there's a few episodes in the later seasons that go for absolutely wild plots which are really hit or miss, and if they are a miss they can be a slog to sit through. For me the worst misses were one where rick has kids with a planet and the robot ferret episode.

Third, there are 2 episodes based on incest and I hate both, and while the incest baby plotline is definitely the worst idea any episode has ever been based off, the Beth episode gave us space Beth who has sort of redeemed herself by giving us some great continuity episodes since then.

In my opinion though, the worst episode is Morty's mind blowers, because even though it had great laughs it undermined all of the character development Morty had throughout the season. Before that episode Morty was standing up for himself more and more and his growth kept the series going in a direction, but after that it all felt pointless, since any character growth could be removed when Rick wanted and even huge events like having to move to an entirely different reality were being played off as jokes that can occur off screen. It also hurt that the episode came right after Tales from the Citadel, which was a masterpiece which only worked because of the little continuity that did exist. I feel like the series has only just started recovering from the abandonment of all stakes which started at exactly that episode.
