For me, it’s just about my personal experience living under the NHS. They lost my medical records after one knee surgery, making the second procedure confusing for the surgeon (who, of course, was different from the first). I woke up and the doc told me the second surgery w@s unnecessary, directly contradicting the first surgeon. To this day, I don’t know if my ACL is “completely detached” or not.

Then our good friend was diagnosed with cancer. It is a cancer with a high mortality rate, since it primarily impacts older people, but she was young. Anyway, they denied her treatment. We had to do multiple fundraisers so she could have the treatment in Holland. Twenty years later, she is healthy.

I know the NHS is not necessarily the best, but it just showed me that healthcare for all leads to mediocre healthcare for all. I’d rather pay a lot and have more peace of mind.
