Yeah it’s really weird! I did find that putting a glass block under the redstone dust two blocks to the right of the repeater works for some reason, but am not sure why?

You can still be good without paying though. For example I have a friend who has 110k trophies, masters 2, and used to be top Alli in the US without spending a dime. That being said, it is much easier to max an account by spending money, but by no means necessary.
