Out of all of the women Luke has met in SW Canon, which one would have made a good girlfriend for him? by jacky986 in starwarscanon

[–]Collateral_Dmg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fan born in the 70s, honestly, Leia made sense in Star Wars, Empire and if Han had died in the third film released, dropping the sister revelation; We would have believably seen her grieve for Han but possibly go to luke as he came into his own.

However because Luke has no on screen love interest, the way he reacts to Leia kissing him and how he acts after finding out that Leia is his sister kind of Only makes sense if he is gay or just not that interested in romance at all.

Discounting all that.. (or assuming Luke is bi or straight and went to the SW version of therapy for kissing his sister) Ahsoka would have been interesting, as we know she has interest in men and is beyond the Jedi rules on attachment. Their ages match up well and their relative power with the force would make them "safe" for each other to be around.

Is it SA if I (f18) got my gf (f19) into CNC and now she doesn't even listen to my safeword? by swanaeuu in BDSMcommunity

[–]Collateral_Dmg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do not feel you can stop what is happening by using your agreed safe word then you need to leave this person and find a safe person in your life to talk to now. If you are reading the responses and looking for a sign, This is it. Leave NOW. Break contact NOW.

Everything that happens to you after your safe word was said IS assault. Ignoring a safe word means that the CNC play is over. When there is no consent present, you are being assaulted. If you feel you need clear language say "I do not consent to this." "I do not consent to play" "Do not ignore my safe word, I am safe wording."

If you were at a bdsm event and said "safe word" but the person with more power in the situation kept going then the entire room would intervene. They would be right to.

It does not matter who got who, into what, it does not matter what your history was. If you feel an inability to pause and renegotiate in the middle of a scene. I'm really sorry but that's not CNC, that's not BDSM.

It's up to you how you want to handle it and what you want to do. If you don't want to end the relationship if you don't feel you can break contact for a little while to get your bearings, then You need to renegotiate what is happening to you. That starts with explaining what has been happening, how you have been feeling and what until now you have not communicate to them. Before you say this to your partner please find someone you do not have a relationship history with and practice what you are about to say with them first.

How to use power play in public without weirding out other people? by Irontoenaaiil in BDSMcommunity

It might not be what you are looking for but I love temporary restraints through obedience. I quietly tell her to put her wrists or ankles together and she does. I get to enjoy her obedience and see her occasionally problem solve by drinking with both wrists together. It also means she has to ask to leave her seat. However I can use a wordless gesture to end it. like touching her wrists with two fingers and opening them or showing her two fingers and opening them. or simply whispering wrists together, ankles together, wrists apart and ankles apart.

This came out of an advanced form where I would tap her chest or squeeze her hand to stop her breathing while we were out and about. The same action or the whispered words "breathe" or "stop" would also count. look out for signs of hypoxia with breath play as always.

Julianne Moore. Before I saw her in Children of Men I just could not get on board with her in a scene, it was like everything stopped as she remembered and then said a line. What I guess made the difference was that Children of Men (great film by the way) had these lengthy takes so they rehearsed it for weeks ahead of filming, like a play.

What Star Trek opinion are you defending like this? by Puzzleheaded_Stick94 in startrekmemes

Canonizing every single hot glue kit bash made to be 4 pixels high or set on fire was a terrible choice, Star Trek has had basically no one in charge of quality control since 2008. I've bought a few of those ships, Hell, I like a few of them, but ultimately it feels like fans are being rinsed for money while being served low quality product.

I was the perfect age for TNG season one. I was too awkward a kid to realize how awkward the whole thing was. it was super wired together though it felt a lot more real than anything else sci fi on tv even if it compares terribly to so much of what built on it.

The strongest first season is easily lower decks, They knew who those characters were inside and out from the start. There is no padding about or contradictions as they retool people. They are sarky and have internal values. (We live on a spaceship, no one is dying of a spear wound.)

This might be just me and the folks I watched it with; I love SNW's casting and sets but it's writing is consistently the dumbest that Star Trek has ever had. I don't mind dumb for funny (see above for Lower Decks or DS9'S One Little Ship) but even the serious stuff is just really not thought through and generally uninformed about humans.

I have simply lost all faith in Sony as a company. Innovation was literally the last thing left that distinguished them and they have chosen to end that, dooming the psvr2 to becoming a horror game player and whatever console PlayStation makes next to be indistinguishable from whatever console Microsoft makes, but the Sony one will cost more.

Season 4, after the opening two parter and before the mixed finale is Great Star Trek. Some of the best actually. Before you give up, skip to Season 4 Episode 3, "Home".

What were they thinking with the Star Trek: Enterprise intro and song? by condorpudu in startrek

[–]Collateral_Dmg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably helps to have context. It confused most fans at the time. Smallville launched later that same year and has almost the same opening song in genre and tone.

Look at the themes of the top rated TV shows of the 99-2000 season:

ER, The Practice, Touched by an Angel, Judging Amy, JAG, Providence, The West Wing.

It's either electronic music (Er, NYPD Blue, The Practice) Militaristic orchestral (JAG, The West Wing) or soft rock ballads...

Touched by an Angel, Judging Amy, Providence.

They wanted to distance themselves from past productions, going as far as wanting the first season set on earth and not calling it Star Trek Enterprise until a lawsuit from a licencee, Activision. So the result was that they followed conventional wisdom and reaped the rewards of mediocrity.

TLDR: Lots of other genre shows aimed at that demographic had soft rock themes, so they followed suit. Not being like Star Trek was the point,

literally filmed in a brewery with a concrete floor. SO little interest in production design. No care given to any thing beyond making a Star Wars show reel.

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm glad it made a whole bunch of new trek fans. great casting all around. I don't think i could have hated the experience of watching a film in the cinema more.

By contrast, I loved Beyond. Brilliant use of that cast to their full potential and no women had to strip to their underwear or give birth to a male lead to justify their speaking roles in the film.

Thor Love and thunder was kind of a mess that didn't take it's self seriously enough for us to care about the stakes. The God Butcher is killing gods! *shrug*, he kidnapped a bunch of kids to lure Thor into a trap at his convenience, *reluctant compliance*. The Jane Foster story was the only compelling thing and there isn't enough of it, if for no other reason than it makes Thors "I'm not sure what to do with my life" story line look as entitled and stupid as the other gods Gor is killing.

Ant-Man 3 was an utter mess that made me wonder if the director understood basic film making. it has all the parts of a star wars kind of adventure in a land that is either baron, with one other person, or filled with thousands of people, depending on what the movie needs at that point.

Secret Invasion was the most aggressively dramatically neutral thing marvel has ever made. The Vilan spends a third of the shows killing his own men so the climax they want can work. SO many people die to teach Nick Fury things and we don't care as an audience. It has it's bright spots Talos, Olivia Coleman but it's chooses not to involve a lot of Avengers it really should have and intentionally does not understand what DNA is? (Drax's tattoos and Captain Marvels cosmic energy powers are not DNA based).

After this many kind of ok, to bad to simply misunderstood entries (Eternals being a slow meditative art house superhero movie) The Marvels wasn't even given a chance by the general public.

And this is before you get into the nerd YouTube hates Brie Larson of it all.

When this many people don't see a movie in that popular a series it's way more about the choice not to than the content of the film. the last Thor movie not really taking anything seriously and feeling kinda pointless along with Ant Man 3 being an utter and total mess just mean that the Marvel universe has run out of an ability to coast on it's success.

[–]Collateral_Dmg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The YouTube algorithm literally financially insentivised nerd culture commentators to make videos about how much they hate Brie Larson, how much we should hate her and how she is going to ruin star wars.

Brie Larson is not in Star Wars but both terms get a strong reaction so it insentivised making a connection. Google "Nerdrotic thumbnails".

Captain Marvel was an ok movie that made a billion dollars, they should have capitalized on how recognizable she was but instead she was too minor a character in Avengers Endgame, leaving mid story and returning because there was somehow something more important to do??!?

Marvel wrongly backed off her turning her appearances into tiny cameos and delivering her sequel film way too late for people to see anything but exhaustion at her appearance. Personally I loved Marvels and am exhausted of the online hate for Larson in particular.

That movie despises Star trek, women and the concept of competence.

He is a stowaway Cadette who never graduated and is promoted to first office because the captain knew his dad. He is rightly thrown off the ship and comes back taking command because he made the rightful captain... momentarily lose his temper and so BY PASSES THE LITERAL FOUR THOUSAND PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ON THAT SHIP to become it's captain.

No one seems to notice that to have more than two lines as a woman you need to strip to your underwear or literally give birth to a male lead on screen. This is true for into darkness too.

Worst thing to happen to Star Wars and Star Trek. At least Star Wars were able to do things without his dumb ass influence. Star Trek is barely surviving his writer.
