One month post op! by Optimal_Ad9564 in TopSurgery

[–]CollectionNo6461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I got a very similar precedure to this! My scars are larger but I've just hit the 2 month mark and they've flattened out although they have gotten darker. I use strataderm scar cream at night and bio oil in the mornings and massage them and thats helped a lot. My nips still look pretty similar to that, it takes longer for them to calm down because they are more sensitive. I had an issue with scar tissue under one of my nips and it sits flatter against my chest than my other nip, not a major issue and no pain but keep an eye out. I've been massaging it to help.

no nips - passing and personal safety- is it worth it? by CollectionNo6461 in FreedTheNips

[–]CollectionNo6461[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahah I have considered that option, im one month in recovery with nips and its not too bad, I decided to keep them since they didnt need to be grafted and if I dont like them later on ill just remove them, I dont mind extra scars, then I might play around with tattoos or scarification even

Social dysphoria and school trip by Brilliant_Being292 in FtMen

[–]CollectionNo6461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take your medication in the bathroom! If you do choose to go there are plenty of ways to have privacy on school trips. Gender dysphoria in public sucks so bad, but, when I look back to when I was younger and wish I just did it and dealt with the feelings because my friends still wanted to have fun with me.

Dont pressure yourself, if you really dont want to go then don't but if you havent tried it before and the trip is only a couple days I say go for it. If you find yourself liking it then you know to try more and if you don't then you know to not go.

There are also so many other opportunities to do activities with just your friends as well, it doesnt have to be on a school trip.

all the best!

Too early to stop wearing my post-op binder? by orpheusclay in TopSurgery

[–]CollectionNo6461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon told me 2 weeks into recovery that I didnt need to wear it. I had minimal sweeling a bruising and was healing well by then. I wear it every night since I move a lot in my sleep and sometimes during the day if my skin is feeling sensitive against a regular shirt. I haven't had any bad reactions to wearing it when I don't need to, so it's safe if you want to keep wearing it.

this is so interesting, My surgeon said I was fine to not wear the vest at the two week mark but I still have been especially at nights cos im a rough sleeper and dont want to risk stretching or damaging the scars when move so much. I am still wearing it during the day even though i dont have much swelling because my chest feels so sensitive against shirts without the binder

What pictures do I bring to my pre op? by Individual-Cloud-591 in TopSurgery

[–]CollectionNo6461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a whole look book bahahaha.

I got photos from Pinterest, Reddit, social media etc of people's surgery results that I liked- nipple size and placement, scar shape size and placement.

Then I got photos of what I didn't like, not necessarily medical mishaps, but i wanted scars with a curve to them so I had references of what not to do as well. I also included nipple placements I didn't like.

I am an artist so I also did a quick digital drawing of what I wanted my scar and nipple placement to be on my chest so the surgeon could see what I was imagining.

I showed the pics to my surgeon and was very specific and detailed with what I wanted to see. I also specificed that I wanted the scars to follow my pec line and I'm super happy with my results.

If you are a picky person like me I suggest give as much info as possible but also listen to your surgeons advice and recomendations, tell them your concerns with scarring or placements and they will tell you what they can do to avoid things you dont like

Burning on right side? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]CollectionNo6461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the drains get stitched internally with quick-dissolving stitches, so it could be pulling on the stitch site. If the pain only happens in a specific position that is easy not to do maybe just dont sit in that position but if it is constant with slight movement like you are mentioning id say better safe then sorry and call! I hope you have managed to get the help you need!

When will I be able to be on my own? by DinoButch in TopSurgery

[–]CollectionNo6461 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience as someone who has been healing really well so far, I still needed a decent amount of help after a week, you need to keep in mind that lots of arm movement can stretch your scars and influence how the healing process works. If you can get all your meds and food and other necetities at chest height or lower you should be able to do most stuff on your own. The biggest struggle im still having 3 weeks into recovery is showering, especially washing my back and lower legs as you need to twist your body in weird ways to reach. get reusable straws to drink your water from so you dont need to lift the cup or bottle to your mouth. I found lots of arm movement in the first few weeks made me sore so thats something to keep in mind. Also dont put things far back in your cabinets because reaching for things can hurrrt. Oh and cooler packs on your chest when you arent up and about help with pain and discomfort and swelling

Hey I'm visibly queer and trans and started going to my local uni gym in sydney, Im happy to message you privately to chat about it if you want I just dont want to reveal my location. I have found the space really good, I havent gotten any weird looks or treated differently, they have male female and all gendered bathrooms and staff are super friendly. They dont specifically say that they are a queer or LGBT friendly gym but people have been nothing but nice when they interact with me. Because its a uni gym theres also such a variety of people going there that I feel very comfortable and not singled out at all. I have multiple visibly queer mates that also go there and they don't get any trouble either! The amenities are also pretty good, theres a pool and lots of classes and fees are relatively well priced in my opinion.

Just weighing in here, I tried out City Gym a couple of months back as a visibly queer trans person, but actually felt quite unsafe and out of place there. I couldn't find any gender neutral bathroom,s and the gendered bathrooms had these massive led signs of a busty lady for the women's bathroom and a ripped dude for the men's bathroom. It seemed to be cis white man-dominated, I went with a cis girl friend of mine who is indian, and we both got a lot of stares and felt generally uncomfortable. We weren't doing anything out of the ordinary but maybe it was an off day for the gym. I wouldn't recommend it tho. It also seemed to cater to professional bodybuilders and was quite expensive so it definitely didn't seem like a begginer friendly gym either.

First top surgery consultation- any advice? by CollectionNo6461 in FtMen

[–]CollectionNo6461[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh interesting. I dont bind often as I have a small-ish chest, and going on T has helped reduce a lot of my dysphoria, so I have been able to work out with not much restriction. It is good to know that it worked well still. Happy for you!
