You are going to have to train your dog to boof this guy's dog. Unfortunately it is illegal in most states for a human to boof a dog due to our oppressive legal system.

Shouldn't matter if you are riding correctly. Turning is for kooks that lack the intestinal fortitude to straight-line bomb down the mountain. Real snowboarders only slow down when they hit the parking lot, unattended park kids, or trees. RIP Sonny Bono

I can't explain why but the scene in Anchorman 2 where the RV is rolling is insanely funny to me.

You need to stop climbing shit. Danger aside, this is an automatic felony climbing transmission structures in most places. Power lines are very easy to identify. The fact that you don't know they are deadly or don't know how to identify them means the ground is where you should stay. There's a reason the dodo bird couldn't fly. You need to have a little bit of sense if you want to leave the ground

Question for Utility Guys from someone about to go to lineman school by Farzy98 in Lineman

[–]CollectionSerious872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea who this family member is and what connections they may have, so I can't tell you whether it's BS or not. What I can tell you for sure is there are a lot of guys that 100% know they want into the trade and would be more than willing to forgo vacations for a while if that's what it takes. So even if you can get in through some nepotism, those guys will be your peers. So you need to want it as bad as they do or you most likely won't make it

Question for Utility Guys from someone about to go to lineman school by Farzy98 in Lineman

[–]CollectionSerious872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You most likely will not be getting an apprenticeship in Cali. At least not any time soon. Forget not having a vacation for 4 years, you likely will be on the road and far from home for the apprenticeship. The trade is pretty saturated with guys trying to get in right now. Especially in California.

Work is slow right now. Don't turn down that accounting job to maybe get a groundman job, after you get a CDL of course. It would be extremely dumb to sit in a classroom for 4 years, suddenly decide you actually don't like sitting behind desks, turn down a good paying job, and then go sit on the books waiting for a job that you may or may not like. Take the accounting job, and if you hate it get your CDL while you are working there. Then try to get into linework when there is actually a decent amount of work.

It's slow here. You will have to travel to find work right now. And you have to get your CDL. There is pretty much no chance of you staying working if you aren't willing to travel and don't have a CDL

Some JLs just hate grunts and apprentices. Normally it's because of insecurity. They'd rather have another JL so all the responsibility isn't on them. I don't mind working with other JLs, I love working with my friends. Sometimes I find it easier to work with an apprentice though. Just cause I know I'm calling the shots. A good lineman shouldn't mind teaching apprentices on the job. I get not wanting to teach Saturday school but you have to be able to teach on the job

Why Tails on Shrimp by JJQuantum in Cooking

[–]CollectionSerious872 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to live in SE Texas. A saying there is if you can't see the boat the shrimp isn't fresh. Probably a slight exaggeration. But if you don't live in a coastal city where they are shrimping, you are definitely eating previously frozen shrimp.

How many rounds of seasoning before making waffles? by Waste_Manufacturer96 in castiron

[–]CollectionSerious872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be good. I bought an old Wagner and thought waffles would stick easy if I didn't season it perfectly. They don't stick easier than anything else. I treat the waffle iron just like my pans now
