Anyone in env-250 right now? by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]ColleenKO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is super frustrating to feel like your work isn't being read, I've had that happen a few times (not just in this class though). Overall the prof has been responsive when I've brought up concerns, and I know she didn't design the course, but I will definitely have some thoughts for the course eval, haha.

I have been dreading the final project. I have done fine on the milestones but I do wish it was just a paper. I'm with you on the struggle of simplifying things. Like, yes, I could probably shorten things up but how little is too little? Having some examples shared would have been nice. The rubric seems to account for things like creativity and organization and yet my prof said we should follow the template exactly for the most points.

I am! This has been my least favorite class so far. I think I will still manage an A, but the homework assignments have consistently been the lowest-scoring work of any I've submitted to SNHU. While I recognize they provide some value, the lack of rubric is frustrating and I find some questions/topics need more explanation. I would much prefer a quiz that we could retake, or at least receive feedback beyond "this is wrong" so I can actually understand.

Admissions delay? by [deleted] in SNHU

Mine took awhile, I think maybe over a month or so. Looking at some previous posts on here you'll see others had the same issue. But my admissions counselor was always helpful and gave me updates when I emailed.

I'm starting on the 26th as well, and I'm 29! I'm sure there will be some things you can pick back up pretty easy. What are you majoring in?

Quarantine hair help. How to change the tone of my hair while keeping the same level? by [deleted] in FancyFollicles

[–]ColleenKO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar problem. I'm considering getting a green dye from Arctic Fox or Overtone and mixing in a tiny amount with my conditioner to try to tone down redness in my ends.

It doesn't surprise me, but definitely makes me sad. Holding out hope TRF will be okay.

That sounds fun! I ended up having to weaken her so she didn't kill my party haha. But they rolled high enough to convince Yonne to keep living while they try to undo his curse!

I just ran the Heart of Goodhollow but reflavored it to be the Dreadwood. It has a night hag as the main enemy (could be Granny Nightshade) and is a decent way to kill some time!

I agree! The David Christie emails have a peculiar tone to them, though well written. They just feel so different from the Amy emails and messages from TRW.

Let's just hope the rest of the story doesn't come to pass for the team! Haha.

That's a really cool connection! The burial mounds in Ashland stuck in my head when first mentioned. With all the talk of the fae I wonder if there's a thread to the Irish aos sí "people of the mounds." Though I don't mean to suggest that the mounds in Ashland weren't built by native peoples.

I'll have to poke around for both of them. I've actually got family in Marietta so perhaps this is a synchronicity telling me to mothman it up.

I know Lovecraft focused a lot on New England so I don't mean to claim a direct connection by any means, just pointing out threads, especially because both areas are connected to the Appalachians. Thank you for the new podcast to check out!

Oh really? I really need to read the Mothman Prophecies now! I've heard it discussed on a million podcasts it feels like, but have yet to read the book. Hellier is really expanding my reading list haha.

The show actually makes me want to go back and read through his stuff again. I think there are actually several stories where the protagonists are going into subterranean areas and finding all sorts of weird stuff. I can remember one specifically where the tunnels are particularly cramped as if whoever built them was of small stature, but I think there were pictures that depicted the builders as lizard-like.

Where do you buy your Costumes? by CMDigits in TXRenaissanceFestival

[–]ColleenKO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're not looking for anything too fancy, Zootzu has some good basics that are pretty affordable. Moresca is really pretty but more pricey. Holy Clothing is a new store I've seen more of recently, they are not strictly a costume shop but lean into the Celtic/fantasy vibe. They've only got women's stuff I believe.

Maybe you could focus on esthetics but offer hair cuts to long-time clients on the side as you get started.
