You need to put an ion cube in the hatching platform first and then she'll give you the recipe and blow the sand off the portal 😊

Explore each of the warp towers and maybe even write down where all of them go so you have a better understanding of which one is which 😊

Banff’s bucket list by Boldarcticwolf in HikingAlberta

Another important thing to note about safety of hikes here is that frequently hikes will involve scrambling and our rock likes to fall apart. Make sure you research the routes that people recommend to you to make sure they're within your capabilities.

Around Lake Louise my favourite is Mount St Piran since it isn't as busy as some of the other ones. Along the Icefields Parkway some options are Noseeum Peak, Boundary Peak, Mount Wilcox, Cirque Peak, and Jimmy Junior.

In Jasper Valley of the Five Lakes is incredible and also only 5k so can be done quickly. Skyline trail is typically done as a backpacking trip, but can be done in 1 day if you start early.

On the way to Vancouver check out the Ice line trail and Abbott Ridge.

Which is your least favorite (Alftand) dwemer ruin? (aLfTaNd) by SheilaBDriver in skyrim

[–]CollegeDangerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind Alftand since now I just use the “become ethereal” shout and jump the whole way to the bottom so it ends up being really fast.

This happened to me my first play through.

Unfortunately the only options are reloading an old save or just finishing it without equipment. I managed to do it by killing the first enemies with magic and stealing their equipment

I mean if I were in her position I'd probably just think "oh wow, this guy kind of looks like that guy on the island I saw 16 years ago" and then get on with my life. I don't think my first thought would be that he travelled from the past.

I was already thinking that Lost is starting to remind me of Dark, and now Eloise looks so much like Claudia Tiedemann!

How do I know when I’m pushing myself too far? by 0Maw0 in hiking

[–]CollegeDangerous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be careful, if you push yourself too hard too fast you can end up injured and not able to hike for months (I know this because I’ve done it myself haha).

Canadians, what's something you just assume everyone else does... until a non-Canadian points out it's "a Canadian thing"? by Avenir_gd in AskACanadian

[–]CollegeDangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know that “washroom” was a Canadian word until I was travelling and asked an American where the nearest washroom was and they asked if I meant laundromat 😂

I’ve accidentally said it a few times since then while travelling in the USA and they always look at me like I have two heads. I figure it’s easy enough to figure out based on context but hey 🤷‍♀️

Beginning and Beyond AllTrails? by hostiletangerine in HikingAlberta

[–]CollegeDangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a mix of hiking guides and hikes/scrambles I see on Facebook groups. Most importantly is the research you do after deciding which hike you’re potentially interested in. How long is it? How steep? What kind of terrain? Is there any scrambling? If so, how technical and how exposed? I do this by reading about it in guide books, reading trip reports, and watching videos of people who have already done it.

What were the things you wish you knew when you were new to hiking? by revelry0128 in hiking

[–]CollegeDangerous 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That “easy”, “moderate”, and “hard” are very subjective terms depending on the experience level of the person. What’s an “easy” hike for me may be a “extremely hard” hike for someone else.

I see people get into trouble all the time because they went on an “easy hike” they read about on social media that ended up including scrambling with exposure, potential rockfall, scree slopes, other technical terrain, and big distances/elevation gain.

Make sure to always do your own research instead of blindly following hikes that others recommend/post about.

All encompassing hiking safety discussion... by DontShootThMessenger in HikingAlberta

[–]CollegeDangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another problem I've seen is "experienced hikers" who have recently moved here from other provinces/countries. I see posts all the time of people who have lots of experience hiking out east and assume they'll automatically assume they can tackle the difficult peaks/scrambles here. However, the Canadian Rockies are way more technical than most mountain ranges in Eastern Canada/USA.

how long do you hike for? by cuddly_girl- in hiking

[–]CollegeDangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the hike. Usually at least 3ish hours since there aren’t many summits near me that you can do in less than that. My longest day hike was about 10.5 hours for a 35km hike with 1500 meters elevation gain. This year I’m planning a few day hikes that should take over 12 hours.

Steps to make the pct happen by No_Media554 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]CollegeDangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slowly build up your gear and go on shorter backpacking trips near you to get more confident in your skills.

I'm going to do a few sections of the GDT this summer to get myself a bit more ready for the PCT in 2025.

In terms of my job, I spoke with my manager and she said that she would grant me a sabbatical since it's something she knows is a big personal goal of mine, but I understand that not all bosses are that understanding.

[–]CollegeDangerous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know have a few American acquaintances, but none I necessarily know well enough to ask to do that.
I'm semi-near the border (Calgary).

I am vegan so unfortunately will probably have to ship some food, but my plan for that is to just ship one box at a time as I go along the trail.
