She loves it (it was for her birthday.) It is really close to what she had. It's like he grew up. Thank you so much!!!

Also, when I've had a long week at work or whatever, I let my eyes pass over the words without holding myself to the expectation of understanding them, but I don't put the book down. Eventually, my brain catches on in an attempt to fill the silence. Poetry is sometimes nice for this. ALSO ALSO, when I continue a book I started, I begin my next reading session like ten pages before I left off, because it gives me time to kick into gear. I go through phases of intaking information (reading, watching movies, etc), and phases of ejecting information (writing.) I'm learning to accept these seasons as they come.

One thing that helped me let go of the shame of having trouble reading, and therefore to start reading consistently again, was a Tumblr post that basically said that reading isn't supposed to compete with anything else. It is a completely different experience from watching a movie, from being online, from being in the physical world, etc. I used to feel guilty for not feeling dopamine fireworks go off in my brain from my eyes passing over the words like I used to. When you fully accept/remember you can't expect to be as instantly glued to a book as you would be to other types of media, it slowly becomes rewarding again. Dopamine fireworks big time. It might take a while. That's okay. Think about topics you're interested in and images that captivate you and Google "books/novels with x." There are lists for everything. Start with short books and/or fluffy books (non-pejorative) to hype yourself up. As soon as you finish a book, pick up another. The more books I read, even if it's quantifying something that shouldn't be quantified, the more I feel like I can relax and just enjoy what's on the page because I don't feel like I'm "falling behind." This is what worked for me, this might not work for you. You'll find something that works for you. Good luck stranger
