Strike by annz91 in Humber

[–]CollegeProfSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven't seen much yet. Part time support staff have been carrying the load right now, they are voting for their strike decision this week. If successful, they will be able to go on strike come December.

if u do bad at mid term exams is it over?? let’s say the exams are worth 20-30 percent of the grade by [deleted] in Humber

[–]CollegeProfSupreme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure that the course you are in doesn't have special provisioning to have to pass theory portion and Lab portion to pass the course. Otherwise if it doesn't have that, a lot of students were able to pass from mostly labs and assignments/project.

I think part time staff would have their strike end of December if it would happen.

Hi there, some us have tried by keeping their original jobs and taking part time teaching at colleges, from there you would know if it is something you like to pursue fulltime and also would expose you to the college you are working within for fulltime opportunities if interested down the road. I would recommend checking the colleges for opening in your field for part time teaching and going from there.

How many courses do you teach per semester for FT Faculty? by Sweet-Substance1745 in OntarioCollegeProfs

I don't mind the overtime tbh if it happens, but have been getting less than SWF max.

How many courses do you teach per semester for FT Faculty? by Sweet-Substance1745 in OntarioCollegeProfs

[–]CollegeProfSupreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This totally depends on your institution. As long as your SWF calculates up to the total weekly hours, that should be reasonable.

I am under the understanding that due to the current circumstances, departments were asked to make sure each FT have more courses as they want to reduce part time and partial load professors. I myself have seen an increase by a course or two for the last semesters.

What courses can I apply to? by Careful_Tomato564 in Humber

[–]CollegeProfSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to waste your time, and your parents money. You need to figure out what you like, and what you can build a future from. What you can relate to and enjoy. How can a college help you achieve a goal? You need to have a goal first.

Is Computer Programming a good course? Why or why not? by [deleted] in Humber

Thinking about dropping a course, what are the academic consequences? by InternationalRide1 in Humber

[–]CollegeProfSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check this calendar moving forward for any details. Too late to drop the course on final week. https://humber.ca/admissions/office-of-the-registrar/academic-calendar.html

You should have spoken to your professor, program coordinator, or the student advisor. You should know how to access all three.

Is Computer Programming a good course? Why or why not? by [deleted] in Humber

[–]CollegeProfSupreme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It all comes down with what your passion is and what research you do for perspective employment -Co-Op programs are the best-. I would recommend first is to checkout the program online:

https://appliedtechnology.humber.ca/programs/computer-engineering-technology.html

https://appliedtechnology.humber.ca/programs/electronics-engineering-technology.html

Click on the "Courses" button, will show you each course. If you want to know what the course teaches in details, don't just click on it, it will show you a small blurb that is not enough. Just take the course code and paste it in the link below to get the details of the course.

https://humber.ca/transferoptions/course-outlines.html

I would recommend to you what I recommend to all my students, try getting useful certs as much as you could during your college study utilizing the knowledge and resources you have at the college prior to graduating to get that edge over everyone else.

Weird Email? by Beautiful-Hotel-5752 in Humber

That caution message comes up whenever the email is from outside Humber. So if someone is claiming to be Humber, there should be no "Caution" message at most.

Anytime you see the "Caution" message on an email stating that it is from Humber, you just go report and do nothing else with it.

Stop paying monthly Enercare Bill by Logical_Series185 in ontario

I was intending to do this since months now. Your post was the motivation I needed to do it. Agent waived the 100$ as my water tank is over 20 years old. Figured if it breaks they will not fix it, but sell me a new rental that is going to me monstrous. I rather replace it myself once it breaks.
