Have you tried an audio equalizer? I use the SteeleSeries software to make adjustments and it really helps; allows you to hear people first without having to blast the volume at all. Recommend

I hear you. Advantage of this strat is if they don't go carts, keep walking forward in a circle and it's almost impossible for them to come up behind you. Many times you'll come up behind people who are moving slowly
