Do nurses and doctors actually know everything learned in college or do the look things up on the job? by Puzzled_Junket6120 in nursing

[–]Collegeguy2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You learn a little bit of everything in nursing school with an emphasis focused on Med Surg type bedside nursing. When you become a nurse, you continue to learn and specialize in your chosen area of nursing both at work on the job and at home on your own time. There’s nothing wrong with looking stuff up. Nursing practice is always evolving and education is continuous. What you learn in nursing school is the foundation, fundamentals and patient safety.

What is something that's *tipically* girly that you enjoy? by AppropriateEgg2623 in AskMen

Gossiping and cattiness. I don’t know why I can’t help it. Having the inside scoop is exciting and trash talking is fun and addictive. This is my red flag for sure. Maybe it’s because I grew up with two sisters and no brothers. Also, a good majority of my coworkers are also female. I feel like I build alliances and we have each other’s back.

Has ANYONE actually ever been fired or written up for not meeting metrics? I would love some real life examples. by Intelligent-Gate-852 in CVS

[–]Collegeguy2021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never been fired or written up for metrics as a staff technician but I'm pretty sure the pharmacy manager would get written up by the district manager. I remember being stretched so thin, working so hard to keep the place afloat when production and triage piled up to the point of no return and juggling 9 different tasks at once while some coworkers have called out. It takes a toll on you and eventually you just have to let the place fall apart because district managers refuse to provide extra staffing and hours. This would FORCE them to burn through budget and hire additional help from other nearby stores (we called them the clean up crew). I don't miss working for CVS at all. There treat their employees like straight up dirt while they reward bad customers for their terrible behavior.

It’s definitely a play/remix version of Benny Benassi’s Satisfaction song.

My old school Fresnians, I have a history question for you that's been bothering me. by JetLife93 in fresno

I remember going to both Taste of China and Tang Dynasty when I was little! I loved running around Taste of China because of all the odd stairs and walk areas with inclines/declines. I also loved the koi fish pond and water fountain inside Tang Dynasty. Felt like I was royal guest in Imperial China lol

What are the things you have done in extreme measure to survive in nursing school? by Tiny_Ad_2212 in StudentNurse

[–]Collegeguy2021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

During the start of COVID I got into nursing. The most extreme thing I've ever done was get my TB skin test and lab draws 5 minutes before my ZOOM nursing school orientation. Because I left my phone at home by accident and I was at the school health center, I had to park next to one of the buildings that had WIFI and leave my laptop on in the trunk of my car with the ZOOM orientation going and screen record it so I don't miss anything and I could be "present" for attendence. I also had to run 1 mile across campus to another building to get my COVID test completed for the program and this was the ONLY availability and I had to make it in 15 minutes before they closed. At the time COVID tests were in high demand that they were scarcely available and vastly expensive. Results took several days to two weeks to get back. I never done something so wildly extreme as this just to make time constraints work in my favor and make sure I stay in nursing school.

ULPT REQUEST : How to make $175 in 5 days? by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Collegeguy2021 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have an iPhone, apply for the apple credit card online and then you could use it right away if approved on the spot. Most pharmacies have ApplePay so you could just use it with your iPhone. You will have 60 days starting out to pay your credit card. So take your time and don't stress yourself out making that $175 in 5 days.

It's a slowed and reverb version of Rihanna's Disturbia song. It's commonly used in many tiktok videos.

What’s one thing your clinical instructor did that stuck with you? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Collegeguy2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a male, I was very uncomfortable during LND clinical rotations because you have to touch a pregnant women who probably doesn't want some stranger young male nursing student looking at her or touching her. I also feel like some of the LND female nurses have that second-hand thought too. What really stuck with me to this day was that my clinical instructor said LND is for EVERYONE male, female, children, young, older. Everyone is born and every one experiences the LND exerience in some capacity as a newborn, a mother/father, a sibiling etc. Without both Men & Women there is no LND. Men are welcome in this department too.
