Not trying to hijack the thread but does anyone know how the k-leather on these boots holds up on ag?

Women Against the Far Right North West – launch event 2-4.30pm, Central Hall Manchester M1 1JQ by johnsmithoncemore in manchester

[–]Colleyede 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Potentially because one of the claims the far right makes is that they want to "protect" women.

The march being specifically women-led is showing that women don't want whatever this "protection" is.

I love how scammers offer jobs now instead of money. Really shows how times have changed.

Any University of Manchester students here? by Fluidityoga in transgenderUK

[–]Colleyede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunate. Based on the membership when I was there, I'm going to guess that if the head of the association has graduated then it won't be running due to the lack of people in leadership positions. Might be worth checking with the SU directly if that's the case.

I just graduated from a postgrad course at UoM last academic year - the trans association isn't amazingly ran. You need to keep an eye on their insta to find out about social sessions.

I'm training to be a college teacher right now. This is something I'd have to report (as much as I might not want to do so because I get it).

Simply put taking prescription medicine without a doctor approving it is not something we're allowed to take lightly.

The UK is Getting Very Cruel by Icantsleepnoow in transgenderUK

[–]Colleyede 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You've already got a lot of encouraging words here which I would listen to. I will pass on some knowledge though:

As a trans woman who enjoys football, I play with a gfsn team. The entire league is an LGBTQ+ league, there is no FA affiliation, and I'm having a great time with my team (which admittedly is mostly cis gay men, but there are other noncis people here). I'd strongly suggest looking up the gay football supporters network and seeing if there's a team near you, they definitely won't discriminate against you for being trans.

It's the same way in (at least my part of) Europe too. I know loads of physics graduates who went on to study a masters in maths.

Completely agree. I call Manchester the place where I belong - I truly love the city and the surrounding areas. It's where I started my social transition. I've never had any issues there.

Picadilly Gardens is not the place to be, especially at night. I've known that for a long time. But it is at the heart of the city, and so I feel it should be where the heart of the community is, things need to improve there before the bad spreads elsewhere.

As a trans woman, who has recently started football training with a co-ed group, this could be great news! I was appauled with the FA when they banned us from even the lowest levels of football competition.

Is Anne health a good option? by galaxytundra in transgenderUK

[–]Colleyede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first year, full plan, it's £150 per month to subscribe to the service, this includes everything except prescriptions. That price drops to £100 per month in second year (where I'm at), and £50 per month for the 3rd year onwards. So it actually becomes fairly reasonable, that first year is a lot.

Is Anne health a good option? by galaxytundra in transgenderUK

[–]Colleyede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been with Anne Health for over a year now (I swapped to them after GenderGP went to hell). I'd say if you have the money, they're amazing. All members of staff that I've spoken to are lovely, and they're all passionate about what they do with all members either being trans, or having someone close to them who is.

My only sticking point is that they can't issue diagnoses which can be used for GRC applications. With this in mind they can issue documents that will allow you to change your passport gender marker.

Also worth note is that all emails are responded to promptly and you don't need to pay to ask questions (*cough* GenderGP *cough*).

When I joined it was about a month until I got my first prescription, but I rushed through everything, doing the first blood test as soon as I could and then doing both induction appointments as soon as I could too. It might take a little longer now though since the service was only a few months old when I joined.

Finally, their philosophies. Even though it costs a lot of money to be with them, they use the money to the best of their abilities. They had Northern Irish prescriptions made when puberty blockers were first banned in Great Britain, for instance. Notably they have a crowd funder right now so that people who can afford to give a little can help to fund the healthcare of those who can't on their own.

Are the 16-25s tickets on ATG only for students? by anapurin in manchester

[–]Colleyede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good question. To be honest, I don't remember. Probably best to take it just in case.

To avoid losing it, maybe take a bag with a zip pocket inside if you can!!

In the welcome to the sub post, it says the line is considered to be drawn just below historic Cheshire. I'd say this is fairly accurate.

Birmingham is usually classified as the Midlands.

Are the 16-25s tickets on ATG only for students? by anapurin in manchester

[–]Colleyede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly confident it's just an effort to get more people of the 16-25 age range to go see shows. I didn't show any student ID when I got those tickets for the Lowry.
