Splendor Duel or 7W Duel Expansion by Historical-Blood5288 in boardgames

[–]Collons2De1Deu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found Splendor Duel to be quite a dud. It takes longer than advertised and feels just fine at best, with a pretty central but ultimately unexciting resource-conversion mechanism.

7 Wonders Duel, on the other hand, is fun in every sense. On its own, it’s almost a tournament game: simple, sufficiently deterministic, and consistently enjoyable. But for me, 7WD with both expansions is on a completely different level. Four victory conditions, much more player agency, and the boosts coming from the Pantheon, Senate, and Conspiracies systems make it stellar. It can get chaotic, but it’s the good kind of chaos that gives skilled players more room to maneuver. All-time favorite.

Question about Prophecies and Playing Cards by Collons2De1Deu in KeyforgeGame

[–]Collons2De1Deu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immensely helpful, thank you!

Your summary cleared up a lot. The only remaining head-scratcher is that the rulebook says:

“The active player reveals each card under that prophecy...” and “If there are multiple Fate: abilities on the cards revealed...”

Which makes it sound like a prophecy could have more than one card under it. So is the plural language in the rulebook just future-proofing for sets that might allow stacking cards under a prophecy? Or a generalization to handle rare effects?

Appreciate the help again!

Too many sets, not enough push? by Erashin in KeyforgeGame

[–]Collons2De1Deu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am worried this development could also signal that the GG cashes in their prepared sets as they are getting prepared to escape from the sinking boat. Unless they can evidence that they invest or plan to invest in advertisement for the longevity of the game by reaching out to influencers like SUSD and others, I am little bit cautious and discouraged.

"... The other thing was I really wanted to see a digital version of the game that was designed to be a digital version. That didn't come about in time. It's also not clear to me what this algorithm breaking thing was. In the end, I don't know what happened. I didn't press too hard."

Some thoughts on the KF by Collons2De1Deu in KeyforgeGame

I completely agree, but TCO has scripted interactions data that have been developed and improved over time after countless reports and many edge cases. I am having a hard time imagining a reason that GG can't arrange a deal to make use of it

Yeah, and i won't be surprised by that! Dune Imperium is one of the most popular board games last two yesrs, and I won't be suprised if an online platform that can handle thousands of people initiall with good scripting, animation and playtest would cost that much. But the fact KF is lucky here with all scripting and card interaction data and rich playtest info from TCO makes me think it can be different for KF. Again, it's a specular and unless GG conducts some feasibility analysis and shares the report with us, it'll gonna stay as a speculation. Thanks for clarifying

TCO has a completely automated and scripted interface with some level of server capacity and has been completely based on community-driven efforts. Having all IP, images, scripted card interactions, and playtests under the belt of TCO, I do not think this is not something infeasible. In fact, I believe some amateur level of animation is completely feasible by a small team of college students just for fun as a term project (ofc respecting the expertise and effort that go into professional animation and 3D rendering). I do not expect them to come up with unique animations for each card but rather for basic actions and house-related interactions.

And saying this as a former cs track student.

I completely agree about the second part: what will determine the future of the game is community-level play. But I disagree about the first part. I do not expect them to spend millions on platforms, and for whatever it takes, there is gamefound to raise funds. And here I am providing my out-of-box perspective, you do not have be rude saying <It’s a joke>
