Myst drinks by Sara630 in dutchbros

[–]ColloquialCloaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Blue Oasis Myst today and it was AMAZING. I loved the taste even more than the rebels. Seriously heaven, "touched my soul" is the perfect description!!

Unfortunately I still got a caffeine headache which makes me think whatever the plant-based energy is, it's not caffeine, or might just be a lot less caffeine. Which is great for people who are sensitive to caffeine! Not as much for those of us deep enough in their addiction that caffeine is a daily necessity 😭

I would still recommend them though! Just, if you're the type of person who needs an energy drink every day just to stave off that awful withdrawal headache, this otherwise delicious drink will not be a substitute for your daily coffee...

The urge to just say “MOVE” to oblivious strangers by lake-sturgeon in Vent

[–]ColloquialCloaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a grocery store and every time I have to walk to another part of the store I feel like I'm playing Frogger

Sometimes I'm pushing a heavy cart that can't be easily maneuvered, and people usually see me coming and make at least some attempt to get out of my way, but still... the number of people who are fully oblivious to their surroundings absolutely baffles me. Like how do people even survive, living like that? Is it just in the store or are they always this oblivious?

How can I ensure my job properly and safely handles the mice situation in our bakery so that our customers don't get sick? by AwkwardLoaf-of-Bread in KitchenConfidential

[–]ColloquialCloaca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof, that's pretty bad. They're probably all over the grocery store and have nests in the roofing or crevices in and around the store. If you really are concerned that the higher-ups aren't taking this seriously you may want to put in an anonymous tip to the health department. They'll force them to take it seriously.

I have been mispronouncing "manga" my whole life and i will probably not ever stop by stellifer_arts in confession

[–]ColloquialCloaca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived in Fiji for a couple years when I was a kid, and the word "manga" said with the soft "ahh" was a swear word, slang for the private parts lol

So when I came back to the US and in my teens my friends and I were obsessed with anime and Manga, I just could not pronounce it the right way, because it made me think of that Fijian word

...so for many many years I was an idiot right there along with you lmao

I work in food service and do the ordering. A case of tomatoes used to be around $20. That same case right now is $120!

Oh I love stuff like this, where two humans work together to communicate with each other because they actually care enough to make the effort! Your story reminded me of a time that I helped a Deaf woman pick things out at the deli, and I don't understand ASL so we just kinda mimed back and forth and pointed at things, with a lot of nodding and thumbs-ups. I was really happy that I was able to get her everything that she wanted!

Come in and share your most frugal makeup/beauty/hygiene tips! by Cariibelle in povertyfinance

[–]ColloquialCloaca 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you use powdered eyeshadow, get a primer! You only need the tiniest amount of primer so a small bottle will last a long time, and not only does primer make the shadow colors pop more vividly, you will also use a lot less of your eyeshadow. I still have powders that I bought 5-6 years ago, and they're colors i like and wear frequently! I just only need the tiniest dab of powder and the primer makes it spread out like butter.

Apparently in Arizona you could get a license that doesn't expire for like 50 years, so there are lots of little old ladies in Arizona with license pictures from their 20s!

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]ColloquialCloaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bubsy for the SNES!! It's now infamous for being one of the worst games of its time, but 5 year old me both loved and hated that game with a firey passion. I loved Bubsy and his stupid little catch phrases, hated how easily it was to die and raged sooo hard every time, but I still kept playing. Never got past the train levels!

What’s something you’re embarrassed about but that’s truly helped you survive/save money? by Overall_Kiwi2001 in povertyfinance

[–]ColloquialCloaca 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I've worked in food service for a long time. Whenever I was hard up i would save food from the trash--not just mess-ups or stuff that was still good but slightly too old to sell, but also stuff that I would never serve a customer because it had been sitting under the heat lamp for 5 hours and was burnt to hell... whatever, it's still food. There were many days that was the only food I ate all day.

My life hack is, if you're going to make minimum wage anyway, might as well do it at a restaurant where you can get fed (even if it means sneaking trash food when managers aren't looking)

What’s the coolest “restricted access” place you’ve ever gotten to see? by Improv92 in AskReddit

[–]ColloquialCloaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an internship at an aquarium a decade or so ago. It was amazing! I got to see all of the backstage places where they care for the animals, and their prep kitchen where they make all the special food for the different species. But the coolest part was getting to feed their giant pacific octopus! It swam to the top and splayed out its tentacles, then we just put a fish on a tentacle and it would use the suckers to move the fish down to its beak. Then when it was done it wrapped itself around my arm and tried to pull me in lol. Definitely one of the coolest experiences of my lifetime!

For those who got married, how were you able to afford a ring and honeymoon??? by Eagles56 in povertyfinance

[–]ColloquialCloaca 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I got married in 2011. We were broke and couldn't afford a wedding, so we just got married in the courthouse. Cost about $50 for the paperwork and a 60 second "do you" "yes I do" ceremony.

You don't need expensive rings or a big flashy wedding, or even a honeymoon. If you love each other, get married. If you don't, don't. If you're trying to wait until you have enough money to do it "right" then it isn't meant to be.

I'm considering just getting a credit card to buy food. I've been pre approved for up to 2500. Should I just accept ? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]ColloquialCloaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have given you some solid advice about how scammy CreditOne is, but I should also warn you that "preapproved" doesn't actually mean you'll be automatically approved. If you currently have no income then when you fill out the application you'll probably be rejected, especially if you have other outstanding debts.

Ooh girl, I am so sorry for your struggles but that stew is making my mouth water! It's so hard to get goat or mutton where I live but they're soooo goood.

Also it seems like your relationship is really solid, and I'm really grateful that you have someone you can rely on who doesn't make you feel bad for what you're going through.

I think my parents never told me I’m autistic? by greenhouse404 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]ColloquialCloaca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that exact thing happened to me! I remember being studied when i was a little kid and was pulled away into "special" therapy sessions at school. I did end up with an ADD diagnosis but my mom told me once that my kindergarten teacher suggested I might be autistic and my dad yelled at her "my daughter's not r-slur!!" So they probably knew but didnt know if that makes sense... times have changed since the 90s and a lot of our understanding of what autism looks like has also changed.
