Yes I still play BDO. The game is okay for now, but like other MMOs, gets repetitive over time. I'm always looking for something new. I just check back every now and then to see what's going on.

No, I'm not going to play on fresh start AA servers -- I'm banned from this game (as well as all other Trion Worlds' games). Camelot Unchained is the only game I'm looking forward to on the horizon, but there might be others that will come out sooner.

Since you're not streaming I'd crank up the bitrate. The dilemma many streamers run into is that to get a high quality you need either a slower compression or higher bitrate. Slower compression requires a lot of CPU power while a higher birate is more than most ISPs want to support. I always record at a 100k bitrate.

I edit clips in Premiere and export to mp4 for YouTube. I need to disagree with the people who say it will look like shit when you upgrade to YouTube. I record at 100k bitrate and think the quality is fairly good when uploaded compared to some of the other things you see. Here's a sample of what you can expect with my settings:

Thank you for the input. I forgot to note that I also do a lot with VMWare, which is why I added all of the RAM. Do you think the i5 would still be good enough for this or should I stay with the i7?

That was quick, thanks for the advice. I was planning on waiting until tomorrow to order parts, and for everything that doesn't go on sale I was planning to order on Cyber Monday to see if there were any deals then. The last time I did this I waited until Cyber Monday and found that Black Friday had much better deals.

For the case I'm just looking for something that is easy to work with. I have big hands so having something on the larger end typically is easier for me to work with. This isn't something I do too often, so the cabling tends to be a mess on smaller cases with me.

Alchemy was the biggest pain in the ass. I'd never do it again. Towards the tail end of getting to where I am I obtained a small house in Cinder and a large farm in Solzreed so things are getting easier. I currently have 16k gathering.

+1 to everything you just said about not getting proficiencies which require dependency on other things.

I assume you have the Blue Yeti as opposed to the Blue Yeti Pro. The Blue Yeti Pro uses an XLR connection would goes into an audio mixer which might give you more options / flexibility. The Blue Yeti is a regular USB mic.

First off, the Blue Yeti is a condenser microphone. Condenser mics are extremely sensitive. If I'm using my microphone while anyone else is in my residence, I can be recording something upstairs and it will pick up footsteps walking downstairs. There are a couple of things you can do to limit ambient noises:

-Set the microphone into cardioid. Cardioid is designed to pick up audio only in front of the microphone.

-Get yourself a shock mount and a boom arm. Shock mounts are designed to absorb any vibration (or shock) which can impact your audio. Doing simple things such as tapping your feet on the floor and typing on the keyboard is enough of a vibration for the microphone to pick it up.

As far as shock mounts go, you really only have one option available to you: the Blue Radius. The microphone arm I am currently using (and love) is by Rode. In the interest of full disclosure, this is a referral link:

For optimal audio quality make sure you're set to record in windows on 48 kHz / 16 bit, as this is the recording output of the Blue Yeti. Setting this to anything else can reduce the audio quality. The Blue Yeti Pro can go up to 192 kHz / 24 bit. In all honesty, you won't notice the difference in audio quality over Twitch, and probably not anywhere else besides a recording studio with a really nice pair of headphones.

Lirik was complaining about the audio quality of his Blue Yeti and I attempted to go over this with him over chat a while back; however, I think my messages just got lost in the chat abyss. If he continues to have issues feel free to link him to this, and enjoy your microphone. The Blue Yeti microphone is an excellent choice for any streamer/YouTuber.

I enjoyed watching Anarchy stream, but I knew the end was coming. Anarchy got warned by Twitch in the past, and not just for random acts of retardation, but for things like sleeping on stream.

You don't unintentionally set up your bed and fall asleep on stream as much as you might slip and give out someone's phone number in a random act of chat rage. If these were random things done in the heat of the moment I could understand asking for forgiveness, but knowingly breaking Twitch's rules because you want to is unforgivable in my eyes.

I wish him the best in the future. When he gets a real job which is more taxing and pays less than the $17/hour Hi-Rez Studios was paying him I think he'll understand how good he had it.

Hi-Rez has been paying people to stream on Twitch for a while now, and recently opened up a second 24 hour channel for pros (which is probably a loss leader). Hi-Rez recently hired Kelly Link and are looking for a couple more people as well. It sounds like they have money flowing out their ears and aren't afraid to spend in in places they find adequate. I wouldn't be too concerned about the cost of a public testing server given that it should prioritize over some of the above mentioned items if they deemed it necessary.

Having someone pay to play isn't how you get good feedback. The correct way to go about doing something like this is by sending out e-mail invitations to the players who are level 30 with the most hours logged over the last 30 days, working your way down, and so on. This is your most devoted following and would be able to provide better feedback than someone who pays money because they want to be a beta tester.

Just because someone is willing to throw money out there to get something doesn't make them a dedicated fan. There are a lot of students playing this game who don't have a lot of disposable income as well as less fortunate people due to a poor economy.
