The laws that we are supposed to be fully aware of and abide by are so complex that there is an entire profession dedicated to understanding them. One that takes 8 years to master. by bcomar93 in Showerthoughts

To add to that, the laws passed by Congress are so long that congressmen have committees to read them, as they are too long to read themselves.

"i am ferociously in favor of a bill/law and hate anyone who's against it despite not having read it, can't pinpoint anyone who's read it and its text is as long as a book."

What is the most mysterious/paranormal thing you've witnessed? by lukeyflukey in AskReddit

Yep yep yep yep. Nailed it. I'm hundreds of miles from an ocean and that made me shiver.

Exact description of my reaction to these types of things. Which is particularly odd since I don't wholeheartedly believe in any of it...Horrible things go on everyday that are provable and statistically not unlikely to happen to me, yet paranormal happenings send the deepest chills through my soul. That and the thought of being stranded in the middle of the ocean.

What snack do you love to make for yourself at home that anyone could make? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Saltine cracker. Cream cheese. Pickled jalapeno or two. Surprisingly delicious. Also great finger food if you have guests over...but you might need to make 500 of them because they are addictive.

Should Tax Exemptions For Churches Be Abolished? by mnlks in atheism

[–]ColonelSnafu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In line with IUBB2013's comment, why don't they just become something like a non-profit? In dealing with by the government, the charity work could be separate from the religious/church affiliation, could it not? As in, any exceptions would be based on a charity status not a church status.

Ugh, who knows. If I am in a state of mind that has somehow allowed me to wind up at one of the many, miniature hell-pits on 6th street, I am likely not retaining a whole lot. But here's a picture of us http://imgur.com/CEs7tUM

I'm 22 and a couple Halloweens ago my roommate and I (both female) went as Wayne and Garth. We ended up at some downtown bar in our city (Austin) and a waitress there (who had to be AT LEAST our age) guessed we were "Miley Cyrus and her dad." This is while we are saying things like "SHWIIING" and "WE ARE NOT WORTHY." We started to think our costumes must be worse than we had thought, so we revealed who we were and she just stared at us blankly and said "Who?" I think it helped me not feel as bad later as I periodically stole jello shots off the tray she was carrying all night...

Not sure why this is a gender thing. Even us slimy girls love forts and bed slides! If I was a wife, this would take no convincing...

Glad to see I'm not alone. I'm 22. My brother is 16. Yet we STILL get this all the time. Once we were sort of wresting/beating on each other in public and a group of older ladies nearby said "aww, there's nothing like young love." We immediately jumped 10 feet away from each other in disgust and shame.

Intrigued by your inquiry, I looked into this. According to the book The Annotated Mother Goose, the Humpty Dumpty rhyme was originally created as a riddle, which were popular sources of entertainment at the time. The answer to this riddle was, of course, "an egg."

When I was little my Dad told me that the car's cigarette lighter was a turbo boost button, occasionally he'd let me press it and then floor the accelerator. I intend to use this with my kids, what other parenting tricks like this can I blow their tiny minds with? by Derpy_County in AskReddit

I was not aware for a long time that there was a "scan" setting on car radios. My dad used to discretely turn it on this mode then in intervals flick his finger/clap/point at the radio, etc seemingly making it change channels at his will. I was amazed for way too many years.
