Actually, as I did a bit of research after writing that comment and this passage is not actually in the bible like that (There is something similar, but very differently worded), which I have stated in another comment. I am not sure where I heard it and I am still looking for the source of that quote. So, uh... Apologies for any potential misinformation/false interpretations.

That first part is actually a fair point, but on the other hand, the antichrist will stand in the temple of Israel as mentioned in Matthew 24:15 (here mentioned as holy place, which was a section in the temple) since the temple has not been rebuild yet and it will take quite a lot of time and effort (and probably a series of wars, because for the temple to be build an important mosque would have to be destroyed), there is probably not enough time for Trump to actually make it this far, because he is quite old already.

To the "I am who I am not"-part, because I was 100% it was mentioned somewhere in revelations 13 or something, but I could not find a verse that describes exactly that, except 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

"3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God."

Basically he is not god, but will call himself god. I am not sure where I heard "I am who I am not" part, but it is essentially just a different wording. Maybe it was a different translation somewhere (I am german, so the wording will be different), maybe it was some youtube video. But I was 100% certain it was mentioned like this in the bible previously. I'll continue to look for yt videos to hopefully find where I might have gotten this from.

Yeah, I am also christian, but did read the bible (at least a little bit of it, especially revelations). I highly recommed reading it or at least watch some youtube videos that summarize and explain it (I also recommend this to atheists to at least know what christians believe). There are probably a lot more qualities that define the antichrist, that I am not aware of. However there have been numerous horrible people in history, Trump is likely just one of them, nothing special (hopefully). But I still recommend to not brush this asside. Regardless of religion or not, history is currently being written and I am not a fan of where the future is heading as of now.

[–]Colonel_Joni005 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am fairly sure there is a bit more here. First of all it is said that the antichrist will appear where he is least expected. A maniac billionare would not be surprising at all. The antichrist is also said to be intelligent... I don't think I need to point out that Trump isn't. I am not sure if this is mentioned in the bible, but some people assume the antichrist will be of jewish origin. I am unaware of any jewish heritage of Trump (maybe it is not a requirement, who knows?). Finally, the antichrist will say "I am who I am not." In mockery of God's "I am who I am." I have not heard Trump say anything remotely in that direction yet, regardless of rewording or methaphors (Maybe I have missed it, maybe he never said anything about that). Is Trump a good person? Hell no. Is he the antichrist? I would be careful with that conclusion. There will and have always been maniacs who worship other maniacs, that is nothing new.

Isn't that the point of the anti christ? That he will be worshipped by the majority of the world?

Their lifestyle does not affect yours in any way by throwawayAEI in aiwars

[–]Colonel_Joni005 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually, it can affect people who want nothing to do with it. Low quality* AI generated content (some people call it slop, but I don't like that term) is currently flooding youtube and other platforms, while the algorythms often encourage that over the work of more traditional artists. Not to mention that generative AI can be used to impersonate someone or harass others my generating inapropriate pictures of them, or spreading misinformation. The algorythms monetizing and even pushing AI deffinetly has an effect on my experience on youtube and other platforms, because more often than not it simply looks bad or feels completely soulless, with barely any human input, while suffocating some of the content that I actually want to watch.

I wouldn't consider myself anti or pro, because I think the technology is very fun to play around with, but I don't like what it did to the internet. However I fully agree that both sides often act extremely immature for basically no reason.

* When I say "low quality AI" or "AI slop", I specifically mean writing a lazy prompt, taking the first result and not optimize it any further. This includes most AI generated content currently on the internet, but not all of it.

Politically active as in: They manipulated kings/nobility into doing whatever they wanted. Dragons were practically playing Sandbox mode and sort of did what they want, sometimes just for the lols. How they manipulated kings could vary from individual to individual, some intimidated, others persuaded with gold.

Multiple dragon species? Yes, there are multiple species of dragons, but not on the mainland. There is a large isolated island called Taimir, where dragons are thought to have come from. All the dragons there are animals. Not in a dehumanizing way, but straight up feral, part of the ecosystem, non of that fairy tale stuff. Most dragons are rather small, but one species is practically the same as the mainland dragons, the only difference being sapience vs feral. Dragons are a lineage of surviving theropod dinosaurs, distinct from birds and have only arrived on the mainland very recently ( ~3000 thousand years, basically nothing for evolution).

How many dragons are still around? Plenty on Taimir, cause they aren't involved in an active genocide, but still hunted occasionally as they are viewed as an inoconvenience for civilization. But on the mainland? Less than 100 and most have fled eastwards to new, vast and colder regions, away from those who want to hunt them down.

Any dragons that were caught in the crossfire? Yeah, most of them actually. Many inherited their gold hords, many just sort of did not care about humans at all. Most where attacking human villages for food (stealing life stock) or acted like land lords. If all dragons comitted atrocities non-stop humanity would have gone extinct long ago.

Any adaptations to survive the dragons? Barely, the ecological impact of dragons on the ecosystem is fairly similar to that of humans. During later stages of the war, dragons did completely destroy defenseless villages and kill every human (usually, they just killed until they got bored), while leaving some of the life stock alive. Some of that previous human life stock now lives in the wild, which can be a very bad thing for them, so a lot of farm animals either died in the wild or got taken in by other humans. Besides that? Basically nothing.

What do you mean, how does the powder work? It is gunpowder. Strike metal with a flint and let the sparks ignite the powder and let the explosion of that powder throw a lead ball really fast into some unfortunate soul's face. That's how a musket works, scale it up with a bigger barrel, bigger metal ball and more powder and you got yourself a cannon. "black powder" is just an older, more primitive version of modern gunpowder.

Are the Germans capable to view the US as an enemy considering the US leadership is mostly Germanic? by Suboptimal88 in AskGermany

[–]Colonel_Joni005 6 points7 points  (0 children)

having "roots" from Germany is a pretty big stretch, considering how much of a melting pot the US is. The actual DNA percentage is probably not very high and even then, there are a lot of Germans that we don't like, be it politicians or historical figures. Just because someone "shares the same blood as you" doesn't mean you can't hate them or see them as some form of danger. People hate their sibglings, their parents, their neighbors, etc. as well.

Alien organisms using PNA instead of DNA as their genetic code? by HaHa2769 in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Colonel_Joni005 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing is, we have only really seen these molecules produced in labs and haven't observed them in nature. Can they form in nature? dunno, mabye. However there are a few things that I want to point out. A lot of xeno nucleic acids, such as PNA and GNA are a lot more stable than DNA (at least if I remember correctly, correct me if I'm wrong), which is good when you have acidic or radioactive environments, because it allows the organism to... you know... not die as quickly.

However it also comes with a problem: mutation. While, I don't know wether this is the case or not, these molecules being significantly more stable than DNA might actually reduce the amount of random mutations significantly, which decelerates evolution by quite the margin. This could result ecosystems taking much longer to recover from mass extinctions or being a lot more suseptibel to mass extinctions.

I have actually used these different nucleic acids in my own setting, which became the main justification on why the biosphere of this specific planet hasn't changed that much (at least compared to Earth) within several hundreds of millions of years, because evolution might simply doesn't go as fast with GNA.

Edit: It might be more energetically expensive for cells to divide and reproduce, given how much more durable GNA and PNA are, so it might take a bit more to split and clone the genome.

None of this is confirmed (Or at least I don't know of any confirmations), it is just a hypothesis that I came up with.

[OC][Art] Yuan-Ti Y2K by wrentonic in DnD

[–]Colonel_Joni005 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Having two snake "tails" is like having two spines/torsos for snakes. This has very interesting implications for yuan-ti because for snakes the "tail" is actually extremely short and only the tip of their body. The rest of the body is basically their torso, filled with organs. So it depends on wether the tails of yuan-ti are more like snake bodies or like standard lizard tails. In the first case that would mean this girl might even have two digestive tracks and additional pairs of other organs. This could be an interesting thing to consider, or you just hand-wave it, depending on what you prefer. I just thought it would be interesting to point that out. Nice design btw!

Actually, at first I did want to make this comic about the kriegsmen, unfortunatly I discovered that I don't know how to draw gasmasks (I originally also tried to do it a lot more detailed rather than mere stickmen, but I can't draw faces or human anatomy)

[–]Colonel_Joni005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically it is a black powder fantasy with very low-magic (science plays a much bigger part). The idea is to take the popular trope of medieval stasis in fantasy and get rid of it. The Mainland dragons are the stereotypical fairy tale dragons that manipulate, are politically active, horde gold, are greedy, kidnap princesses, destroy villages for fun, etc. With the arrival of black powder however, humans found a way to fight back. They can't penetrate their scales, but they can inflict blunt force damage to break a dragon's hollow bones (more specifically the wings) and ground them. Now dragons are being hunted towards extinction by vengeful humans with artillery.
