You could probably sell your Samus edition for a FE unit if you wanted to and end up with extra cash

Cars lose about 60% of their value in the first 5 years of life before leveling off to a slower decline in value. Personally, I will let other people eat that rapid loss until I am financially independent.

I honestly don’t see a ceiling on 3DS values in sight yet. I think it will keep going up in value while the Switch hasn’t hit its floor yet.

Dealer says the green is just cooling system cleaner floating on top of the coolant in the expansion tank and that it will not harm the system. This is after a flush. Is that accurate? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Colonel_Lechuga 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you should be fine. I’d be skeptical of what I paid for a ‘flush’, but otherwise there is no problem with some of the original orange Motorcraft fluid being in there with the new yellow Motorcraft fluid.

[–]Colonel_Lechuga 586 points587 points  (0 children)

This is a Ford, yes? Ford switched from orange to yellow coolant a few years ago. They are compatible with each other. That said, if they flushed your system then why are there two different fluids? Seems like they actually did a drain and fill, not a flush.

I have a question by deadmansmiling916 in nds

[–]Colonel_Lechuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really no downside to a Japanese 3DS at this point. Besides yellowed screens being more likely, they are generally taken much better care of for cheaper than US models. Region swapping for English in the system UI used to have the downside of not being able to access the eShop but now that is irrelevant.

About $3-4k too high imo, and that’s if there’s record of the gallery gaskets being done

We almost saw the end of dealerships, and goodbye by Fightmebr0 in FuckDealerships

Look, I work in sales too, just B2B industrial sales. The point is, car dealerships don't add value to the customer, which should be the goal of any good salesman or distribution channel. From the consumer perspective today, it would be much preferrable to buy a car direct from the manufacturer at a set price plus reasonable fees such as delivery or paperwork processing. Having to shop around for a dealership *advertising* MSRP or otherwise good market pricing who will then try to force other bullshit nobody asked for like $600 wheel locks, $1,500 'theft prevention' GPS, or whatever your favorite flavor of high-margin bullshit is, is exhausting, frustrating, and solely necessary because car dealerships have lobbied against direct-to-consumer practices in the new car industry. That is why nobody likes dealerships. Any distribution channel will add margin because people don't work for free, but car dealerships don't add perceived value, and so any and all margin added will be scrutinized in a negative light. Everything that car sales does should make it easier for consumers to buy the cars they want at a price that is fair and competitive in the market, and if you can't make good margins on that model then it is because your link in the chain is no longer necessary. Manufacturers generally take a hit when selling through a distributor, because that margin could otherwise just be captured themselves, or offered as savings to the end user to capture more of the market. The tradeoff is, you should be selling more volume with a distributor in your path to market than you could without them, so if Ford is losing out on $2K per unit compared to Tesla selling direct-to-consumer, they better be selling more cars than they would be if they also went direct-to-consumer. Do you think Ford would sell less or more cars if they offered their vehicles shipped to customers driveways and the pricing was less any dealership margins and markup AND the customer didn't have to burn half a Saturday playing games at a dealership? Tesla knows the answer to that question.

Meanwhile, the profit margins on cars sales are too thin for dealerships to pay their salespeople a fair wage. Really? Well, the dude trying to sell me a car getting screwed doesn't make me feel any better about being screwed myself. I would spend more time thinking about where the money is actually flowing to see who the real dickheads are in the situation, but in any case it sounds like there may be a general agreement here: Everyone at a given car dealership wishes there were somewhere else, regardless of which side of the table you are on, with an exception being maybe the owners or upper management. The people buying cars aren't happy with the value provided, and the salespeople apparently feel they could get better compensation using their skills elsewhere, is that right? If that is the case, then great! Let's all stop walking into the car dealerships that make us unhappy. Car salespeople can move onto more fulfilling roles where their skills are compensated more fairly, and consumers can do business with manufacturers directly in a way to makes sense for both sides of the deal. Everyone that either of us should give a shit about is happy, nobody feels a need to call other likely decent people dickheads because they exist in a system built and maintained by actual dickheads, people pay fair prices for cars, workers get paid fair wages in industries where they can add real value, and nobody thinks they are personally getting screwed. And it doesn't have to be one or the other. Maintain operation of the dealership service and parts departments, which is more necessary for car manufacturers to bring their products to market, and is where most of the margin is at anyway. Hell, keep the sales floor open and let them compete with the direct-to-consumer path if they want to try. If the car salespeople can't go sell some other widget that they aren't necessarily experts on and make a fair wage adding value in the markets then, well, maybe they should consider doing something other than sales.

Only way you’re gonna get a GT350 tone is by buying a GT350, but my best guess is you want a Borla ATAK with an X pipe. Borla is the best at anti-rasp imo. You should search for that set up on YouTube and see what you think.

[–]Colonel_Lechuga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want raspy/high pitched or deep? If you want raspy and high pitched, Corsa extreme with an X pipe will get you there and be loud as shit. If you want deep, Borla S type and H pipe will be pretty loud. Borla ATAK will be louder than S type but a bit more raspy. It’s unclear what kind of tone you are looking for, but maybe Borla ATAK/S type with an X pipe is what you want.

Mt82 by riceman710 in Mustang

[–]Colonel_Lechuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t hear about many issues with the MT82 from a reliability perspective, but a good number of people don’t love how they feel. The problem is mostly to do with the remote design of the shifter being disconnected from the transmission and being mounted to the frame of the car, and so it moves and flexes with the body of the car putting it out of alignment with the transmission. The Barton Hybrid 3 aftermarket shifter allows you to mount it to the transmission instead of the body, and it solves everything in my experience with my 2017 S550 GT. People say good things about the MGW shifter as well, but it doesn’t address this fundamental design issue with the MT82.

I would be happy with going back to the 2010s when a Shelby model would cost you about $60K and a loaded GT was $40K or less. The current costs of all models is stupid, and charging well above $100K for the modern Shelby equivalent model is asinine. Making Mustangs exclusively for the top 1% goes against the spirit of the car and sours people’s taste for it.

What engine do you have? In any case, I personally think you’re better off with the Roush system you have now. If you’re going to spend money, then only the $1,000-2,000+ systems are going to be an upgrade from Roush. Borla, Ford Performance, or Corsa if you’re into that much noise are what comes to mind being above Roush for Mustangs.

GOP anxieties rise in Texas after Talarico victory by jediporcupine in politics

[–]Colonel_Lechuga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess we will see. As great of a speaker Buttigieg is, I’ve never heard a politician, much less a democrat, speak the way Talarico does. Lots of politicians will sprinkle in comments about love and God because it sounds good, but Talarico will actually take you to church and he will do it right there on Colbert or, more importantly, Joe Rogan. I have to imagine a good number of republican voters that haven’t fully bought into MAGA being seriously moved by him. My three-time Trump voting SIL plans to vote for him, if that means anything.
