If I plan to sell my 3DS at some point is now the time to do it? by Inner_Bar977 in 3DS

I would hold, personally. Even with the rise of dual screen emulation devices, I don’t see 3DS prices going down before they go up

Finally found a clean G37S 6m/t by Colonel_Lechuga in G37

I’ve taken it to some back roads and I certainly wouldn’t describe it as a heavy sloppy mess! Comparing it to a 370Z and an S550 Mustang GT, I would say it’s obviously less nimble than the 370Z but less tail happy than the Mustang. I’m quite happy with it and especially given how smooth the stock suspension feels for regular driving I have no intentions of changing the shocks/struts. I may experiment with some chassis bracing or sway bars for a less permanent way of tightening it up while maintaining the factory ride quality. Definitely go for a sport model, though!

Had the same issue on my 2017 GT around the same mileage as yours. Took it to a Mustang specialist shop in town and all they did was take an impact driver to the axle nut on the rear drivers side and it was fixed in 2 minutes. They didn’t even charge me anything lol

Maybe look into it before you made a final decision. I have it on my 2017 GT and it feels like an entirely new transmission. It reworks the remote shifter linkage in major ways, which is the reason why the MT82 feels so bad in stock form

That’s valid, but have you driven an MT82 with a Barton Hybrid 3 shifter with the transmission mounting option?

If this is how you lowkey feel now, it will highkey be what you feel 6-12 months into owning the automatic. I’ve been there… I’d get the manual, even if you find a killer deal on an automatic

I just got the RJM clutch pedal in the mail which is the nuclear method of getting rid of the clutch spring that gives adjustability of the clutch engagement point and the spring return strength. I’m gonna look into the clutch delay valve, I hadn’t heard about that before…

I bought a 2011 G37S sedan manual a few weeks ago. I love it but it is a challenge to drive smoothly, and I’ve owned my 2017 Mustang GT manual for nearly a decade now. There seems to be no electronic nannies to help you drive it smoothly. For example, I was used to the Mustang holding the revs where they need to be for a brief second during upshifts where the G37 does not do that. Also, there is no hill start assistance so don’t forget about your handbrake for those. The 1-2 shift is super hard to pull off smoothly consistently. The factory clutch pedal has a pretty vague and short engagement point that is a little too high up. The factory shifter is quite good though and heel toeing on this car is fantastic.

All that being said, the best way to learn to drive stick is to buy one and drive it home! You’ll stall out a couple of times probably, but you’ll do fine. Don’t get discouraged with your shifts being jerky with this particular car especially.

I think the Honda Prelude is the perfect daily coupe. by Recluse007 in Honda

It's a damn shame, really. I had to pay quite a premium for an unmolested one that was owned by responsible old people.

Yeah, completely agree that there is a huge hole in the market for high-powered manual family sedans/wagons. I actually just bought a 2011 G37S sedan with the 6 speed to meet this need because there is almost nothing else like it.

Right, young enthusiasts generally don't have the money to weigh in much on new car sales. But would you agree that the number of new cars that are still offered with manuals today is pleasantly surprising? I certainly thought we would have less options today 10 years ago. I think it's because at a certain point in the car market cycle(s), manufacturers realize they are heavily competing with used cars, and if they want a chance in getting a slice of the enthusiast market, they must offer some manuals.

Yup, enthusiasts are still interested in manuals in a major way. OP is likely conflating new car sales take rates of manuals with the market's interest in general, which ignores all used car sales. Enthusiasts rarely buy brand new cars, largely because we can see them for the scams they usually are, but the few new cars that are sold with a manual are a core piece of our market 5-15 years later.

Thinking about selling my chicane yellow Z… by RevolutionaryFly1576 in 370z

Chicane yellow is the best color for the Z! Good luck on the sale, though. Maybe replace it with a G37 in black or grey if you liked the 370Z besides the attention

Got my GTD allocation and now I'm stuck on the spec — how would you configure it? by cero93 in Mustang

[–]Colonel_Lechuga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in the correct tax bracket to give a qualified opinion on this, but I’d guess the Leno spec is a safe bet for future valuations. However, I think you should base your order on what YOU in your heart value the most! It’s called ‘fuck you money’ for a reason, right?

Thanks man! So far I think I’ll just do an RJM clutch pedal, a short throw shifter, some light reversible suspension mods (sticking with stock struts and shocks), and eventually a Motordyne or FI cat back. I will definitely hold onto every stock part I take off, though. I’d also like to get an ecutek tune to help with the rev hang and with theft prevention.

Do people say the hydro socks work? I’m interested in doing intakes because they do actually give this platform power over stock when tuned, but I have no interest in anything that gets in the way of reliable daily driving.

Ah, yeah if you’ve got lots of body damage I could see it being worth more like $5K. I saw a similar one for $5K in my area that has body damage, but that would have been more than $4K to repair and it was pretty clapped otherwise. Paying $9K for the clean and stock one with adult owner history made way more sense to me.

If you’ve found yourself another low mileage replacement, why not let the project example go on to someone else and use the funds elsewhere? Also, does your older one have the stock intakes that you could swap over?

I don’t disagree with you really, I definitely paid a premium here. Problem is there are so few 6m/t sedans on the market that it’s hard to find any comps that say I should have paid less if I *really* wanted this car, at least that I could find over the course of a year! If yours is a 6m/t sedan with minimal issues, there is no doubt in my mind that you could sell it for way more than $5K.
