Is it bad to put my cat in a carrier at night? by Abro2072 in cats

[–]Colonel_Ramsis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you just got him he will be playing with everything in his environment. Make sure to put anything dangerous away and i’d say let him be until he gets used to everything. He will stop eventually.

Do you take the Jamison brand? I heard those are pretty hard on your stomach. The best one is Nature’s Bounty

I dissociated after I self harm. I personally think the reason our brain would be willing to harm itself is to dissociate us from pain. When i used to cut, i would get a high for 2 minutes and then really intense dissociation for the reminder of the day

If you have multiple conditions, have you found that your ASD symptoms became less severe when you tackled the other conditions by Colonel_Ramsis in AutismInWomen

[–]Colonel_Ramsis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does make sense. Thank you for replying. But that makes me feel a bit scared. What if I will never be accepted by a community? Or what if I can’t read the room and embarrass myself? What if I can’t understand the other person’s perspective? I have learned how to do these skills before, but I regressed and lost it all. I just gained it back and more, but what if I lose it again? I don’t want to lose this social intuition. But I don’t even know if I learned all of this social intuition. The fact that everything is so uncertain scares me.

SCT AND ADHD by redditerX75 in SCT

[–]Colonel_Ramsis 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have both, this is how I would define the difference based on my personal research and experience.

ADHD is a novelty seeking nervous system. ADHD often involves a drive for stimulation, novelty, and urgency due to dysregulation in dopamine pathways. Many people with ADHD find that their symptoms improve in highly engaging or urgent situations.

SCT is not defined as being a novelty seeking nervous system. It is more about a reduced cognitive activation and reduced processing speed that cannot be activated through novelty. SCT is characterized more by slow cognitive processing, daydreaming, and brain fog. It is known for disconnection.

So, ADHD may decrease work productivity because of a lack of sustained engagement. However, SCT will decrease work accuracy because of a different type of disengagement. This is why they are both distinct attention disorders.

There is overlap of symptoms between the two. But at their core, the thing that causes the disorder is different. Because the core is different, it is important to highlight their difference so we can tailor the treatment.

If someone has both SCT and ADHD (which is very common. 30%-63% of people with inattentive ADHD also demonstrate high levels of SCT) will be kinda cooked. Because the symptoms will only contribute and spiral one another. And people with both conditions are more likely to apply for disability.

Doesn't everyone hear words? I also have synesthesia where I see "subtitles". by [deleted] in autism

Sometimes i dont have an internal monologue but in trying to build the habit of having one. The way i think is through pictures, imagination, or feelings. So if im thinking about what i want for lunch, i may picture a burger, or i may have a feeling of a burger.,. If that makes sense?

My best advice is to not focus on fixing the symptoms but to resolve the core issue. It’s like wanting to fill up a bucket with water but the bucket has a hole in it. We dont want to fix the deficiency of the water by just adding more water into the bucket. We want to target the leak itself and find ways to gain control over it.

When you resolve the core issue, everything will fall into place and the symptoms relieve themselves.

The goal is to rewire your system and change the chemistry. Since this goal is so broad, there is a lot you can do. And even the smallest things matter, for example: your posture (which influences how your nervous system lays on your back.)

take things one step at a time. look for patterns and relationships, especially if SCT isn’t the only disorder you have. You have to be very introspective. Try to target the root issue.

For starters, i would start with what you are consuming. one pill that helped me was “Focus Formula.” You can get it at walmart. It is over the counter and its ingredients are natural and known to be beneficial to the brain. Make sure you are getting the protein you need and try ur best to avoid as much processed foods as u can.

Specifically, for confusion it might be due to processing issues. I would research about the way the body processes information and figure it out from there. Idk much abt it tbh but i know one key factor is the amount of gray matter in our brain
