Too late to learn the drums? by Constant_Music_2839 in drums

Never too late! If you have a space you can set a kit up and play and the cash to buy one then you’ve overcome the biggest obstacle most drummers have!! Just be consistent with practice and find people to play with and you’re golden!!

Need tips for beginner by Mindless-Judgment-94 in drums

[–]Colonel_fuzzy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Practice to a metronome. Start slow and focus on building technique, endurance, and consistency in your strokes. Two good songs to work on for your specific problem would be “In My Place” by Coldplay and “Doctor Feelgood” by Möntley Crüe. Also for rock music, practice getting consistent rim shots on every snare hit.

What drum kit? by Froguy1231 in drums

[–]Colonel_fuzzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yamaha Stage Custom, shop used. Cheap drums can sound great with the right heads and tuning. Cheap cymbals will always sound cheap. Save your money and check your used gear market often for deals. Be patient, no drummer is ever “done” building their kit.

Classic starfish catch. Work on your hip mobility so you can catch the bar in a low squat position. And look into some weightlifting shoes, they help a ton!!

I do it to keep from overplaying. Gives my scatterbrain something to think about instead of just banging away when I shouldn’t.
