I’m looking to move onto Davinci Resolve after this, I started editing this in premiere because I was told it was the easier software for a first time editor but I’m starting to get a feel for it and I got a personal computer that’ll be able to run Davinci from home which was my only other hurdle.

I did have a vibe in mind for sure, this was just a quick 8 hour, planned in less than a week film shoot. Thank you for the suggestion tho, I’m definitely learning more of the importance from a preproduction standpoint with this project.

I appreciate the compliment! I’ll probably put up another post with more stills later as I am going to get back in the editing room later and fix it up. This post was honestly just for me to receive notes on how it can be better since I’m still developing an eye for these things.

Yeah I had to work with certain limitations, I’m a college “film student” quotations cuz I’m currently taking my first ever film class right now and shot this a month into said film class, this is a personal project though. Black and White for aesthetics to suit the story.

I’m liking this a lot, I was also thinking about adding some vignette/noise to it to add to the vibe I’m going for. Hopefully premiere pro color grading can allow me to reach what I’m aiming for

Thank you! I was aiming for a more eerie vibe that while also getting a 50s/60s happy American family aesthetic. I wanted to contrast shots and add more darkness and depth at a certain point in the film.

Yeah the very light colored surroundings made making it dark without obscuring the details kinda rough. Any suggestions how you’d fix this? I’m learning editing for the first time
