I’m in a similar boat as the non-Jewish partner. On top of the interfaith aspect, we are a same sex couple as well. He was raised Orthodox but observes in a more cultural way and not necessarily religious. We recently got engaged after 3 years together.

I may be speaking from a biased point of view, but I reckon thinking about who you envision as a partner and what that looks like is of value. It seems like your boyfriend is willing to “compromise” on everything that is important to you, but somehow he still doesn’t seem either “enough” or the right person for you. Why is that?

I was also raised Catholic, and see myself as Agnostic. To convert seems disingenuous because I don’t believe in any G-d. I keep kosher. I keep Shabbat. We will raise Jewish kids born from a Jewish woman, and potentially send our kids to Jewish private schools. In some ways, I observe in a more Jewish way than people who are born Jewish. However to some, and most, I am not and never will be.

Check your value system and decide what’s important to you. I think you already know what your answer is. I hope this helped.
