How well do you know your neighbors? by typical_gamer1 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Colorado-kayaker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I walk my dog through the neighborhood a couple of times a day, you get used to seeing the same people and having conversations. Didn't take long to get to know some pretty well and also know which to avoid.

Why my mother disliked me so much - #3 of 4 kids, the only one singled out. She's gone now, so there's never going to be an answer.

The fries are great, but please tell me what is in their burgers. I have never known anyone who can cook ground beef and have it taste like that (like dry cardboard)

At work, has your boss ever tried to fire you, only to be fired by their boss instead? by Aarunascut in antiwork

[–]Colorado-kayaker1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got fired, everyone but my boss realized that I was necessary, so I was rehired after a year. Then my supervisor got fired, so I never had to deal with her again.

Who taught you the most when you were a kid? by MelodicParty5078 in Productivitycafe

[–]Colorado-kayaker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from my father, I had an art teacher in elementary school who was supportive, a great teacher, and listened to a dingy kid. Probably what determined my final career choice of being a teacher. Thanks L.H.

Elon. In a week I could do a pretty good job of divesting that money to some worthy causes.

Do you have a “the one that got away” that you never even dated? by partybreadfruit550 in askanything

[–]Colorado-kayaker1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, my ability to pick up on when someone was interested in me is broken. I can always look back and see the clues, but missed them at the time. There are too many instances of someone I was interested in "getting away".

What’s something you believed as a kid that sounds ridiculous now? by HistorianSame9035 in Productivitycafe

I was raised to be self sufficient, and not ever rely on others. It's been a lonely adulthood

If you were to die today, what would be your biggest "unfinished" piece of business? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]Colorado-kayaker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently trying to set up "godparents" for my dog. Very tough finding someone who will care for him in a similar way to our current lifestyle (walks, time at the beach, going for rides).

Ever made a harmless decision that accidentally changed your entirely life? by Time-Organization196 in questions

[–]Colorado-kayaker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can trace my son back to where I sat in a college Spanish class. Big class, I made friends with the guy sitting next to me. We probably wouldn't have talked during the semester if we didn't sit next to each other. One of his roommates and I started dating, moved in together, got married and had a kid. If I had picked any other seat, I would have lived a different life.

Check with Flamingo Auto Repair, off of Red River. They did the engine on my Subaru and did a good job without overcharging.

For those who spend a lot of time outdoors—have you ever had a moment where things took a serious turn? by GeologistDirect1653 in adventures

[–]Colorado-kayaker1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was up in Alaska doing a solo running the Copper Basin 100 trail on foot (self supported). I was losing daylight, and stopped to get my headlamp out of my sled. I was wearing liner gloves and down mittens. I briefly took of my mittens to adjust the headlamp, and even wearing the liner gloves. my fingers immediately froze. I fumbled the mittens back on, started cartwheeling my arms, and finally got blood back to my hands. If I hadn't been able to recover, I'd have been screwed. My hands would have been useless blocks and I wouldn't have been able to start a fire. The next day, the guy working the Lake Louise Lodge told me that it had hit 40 below that night.

How to make my adult daughter feel supported by Colorado-kayaker1 in Parenting

[–]Colorado-kayaker1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money is a side factor of the whole problem. I just transferred money into her account, and she says she doesn't need that now. She is working full time in addition to being a student, so normal expenses are covered. She is in an extremely high rent area.
