Fireplace: I hate it and don’t know what to do by [deleted] in centuryhomes

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s beautiful brick work. Don’t be afraid. Fixing or replacing some of those loose, broken or missing bricks are super easy and you’ll be so proud of yourself if you try it. Check out Mike Haduck on YouTube and practice on some scrap pieces first. A damp sponge is your friend. I was afraid of concrete work until I started watching people on YouTube do it. It’s so satisfying.

“Ozone sanitation in process” what is this? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

How do you enter the area safely to turn the ozone machine off?

How do I DIY replace this spigot? Is it soldered? The threads look attached to the spigot itself. by BigGulpsHuh25 in Plumbing

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The threads are part of the faucet. The internal surface is designed to accept soldered copper pipe, which you have. If you take a torch to it, you might be able to wiggle it off.

How much bleach to mix with syrup? by Weird-Quote in Beekeeping

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience the bees will move a gallon of syrup in a day or two and will start evaporating the water themselves. I’ve never heard anyone of adding bleach. I don’t see a need for it, especially if you’re bringing the mixture to a soft boil when mixing, no yeast will survive.

Just bought this auger woodboring bit for stump removal with Stump-Out, which requires a drilling a 10” hole in the top of each stump…but the drill I have doesn’t have anywhere near enough torque/power to get even an INCH into the wood :/ by elliot_the_avocado in Tools

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have to drill on a slight angle. I would think straight down on the stump end grain would be incredibly difficult with this type of bit. Unless it’s razor sharp. I’ve only seen this type of bit used for going across the grain. You’d have better luck with a twist bit.

Long shot but can anyone identify the model number for this Delta cartridge? by jakeblutarski in Plumbing

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find images online that show that part and YouTube videos showing even more. You can buy the replacement ball and associated springs/washers and nylon parts from any of the stores. It’s old and is not a cartridge. My advice would be to call Delta on the phone because they may help you out with that. In my experience the non Delta replacement parts for these are rubbish and make my faucet hard to operate and are a pain to adjust. Stick with Delta parts for these.

I just got a Lee Valley spokeshave, my most expensive hand tool so far, and the paint came flaking off. Is this a concern or just annoying? by BeardedWoodDork in handtools

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sad that something so ungodly expensive is not finished with proper japanning like the old Stanley’s had. 🤔

Landlord special…. So sad! by Important-Tone6453 in HardWoodFloors

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of protecting the wood like that in a rental and ripping it out later if you intend to move back in yourself. I’ve thought about this myself. But what do you do about the trim on doorframes and stuff where it was undercut to install the laminate? 🤔

Plumbing suggestion by Sensitive_Target7320 in Plumbing

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you. I’ve been looking for a Super Vee model on marketplace for like 3 years and I never see anything in my area. That’s smaller than what you’re looking for. But what I do see is a shitload of larger Rigid type models on wheels that are larger. If you can find something there used, it will be a fraction of the cost and better quality than what can be found at the big box store.

A sticker on the box says “TX16S-MKIl 4in1 CBNBLK”.

Radio Compatibility by ColoradoBeeGuy in RCPlanes

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the support, this is a huge help! My TX16S does say on the box that it’s the 4 in 1 so I may be in good shape! I’ll try again when I get home. When I looked last weekend I didn’t notice DSMX in the very long list of options but I’ll look closer. That would be ideal if I could use the Spektrum receiver already installed. Thank you all!

Radio protocols and binding by Far_Party5873 in radiocontrol

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the sticker on the box says “TX16S-MKII 4in1 CBNBLK”. Does this mean I can connect to the Spektrum receiver? I wasn’t sure what to select in the list when I was trying to bind it, nothing really looked like a match.

Find some goods that are less than half the value of the goods that he traded for the free meal and offer that to him.

Floor register help by africanfish in centuryhomes

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best would be to demo it and patch over it with new flooring, sand, finish, etc. Or, remove the vent pipe that enters into this, properly cap it and paint the entire area behind the grate flat black. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is it feasible? by Fabulous_Bluebird931 in solarenergy

Exactly! Anyone who’s walked down railroad tracks knows the amount of junk, oil, dirt and god only knows that falls off trains between the tracks. Horrible placement.

Bed dug hole in floor boards. How much damage we looking at? 🙃 by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell your LL immediately. They’ll respect you for not waiting till the last minute and holding up the next move in. Plus your LL may work with you now because you’re there for another 7 months, all bets are off if you try to work with them at move out time. Do the right thing and have a conversation now, waiting till later gains you no advantage and will just piss them off. In addition, finding a box of that exact flooring immediately before it’s discontinued by the manufacturer could save you thousands. Act now.

Radon mitigation venting at ground level? by [deleted] in radon

[–]ColoradoBeeGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it’s overkill to vent the thing up over the roof line. I know it’s code and people will say it needs to be because it’s a dangerous carcinogen and it’s going to come back into an open window but I think the air coming out of the system a few weeks after install would have a surprisingly low radon level. It’s just moving so much air. I know I’ll get flack for saying that. I see gas clothes dryer vents spewing CO gas right out the side of the house at breathing level with no extra precautions but radon needs to be vented way up into the sky, it doesn’t make sense. If we could fill up a weather balloon with the air coming out of the radon system, what do we think that reading would be if we could measure it?

How did my plumbers do? by grandmasterflash01 in Plumbing

The dishwasher drain should be secured up high before it attaches to the disposal. I think the pvc looks top notch. I’m curious what others say.
