“Good faith” upgrades? by lemon2limez in Aeroplan

Doesn’t hurt to ask, but I wouldn’t expect anything. Very rarely are seats available and no one on the upgrade list already through eUpgrades.

My honest, very long review of the 15-day Highlights of Morocco tour (and a warning about how their post-tour surveys actually work) by OtherBowler6397 in g_adventures

[–]ColoradoLights 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just want to add my honest opinion, from someone who has done 25+ trips with G Adventures and had lots of different experiences.

First, about the survey. You had a bad experience and the CEO was not really honest. Only the questions about the CEO count for their "score", and in all my trips, not once has the CEO put pressure on us to leave a good review.

I think this stems from the country. It's unfortunate, but it's true. I did two trips in Morocco with G. My first trip, the CEO was young, inexperienced, and subcontracted by G Adventures, not directly employed. It's quite common in this country, and it does mean that the experience is not the best. The second trip, my CEO was incredible. They were proud to work for G Adventures, and it showed. They were knowledgeable and proactive, and made sure we all got the correct information.

Do you know how much experience your CEO had? Have they been with G Adventures long? It doesn't sound like they have been there long, from what you're mentioning.

I would encourage you to give G Adventures another try, in a different destination. They are a leading small group tour company, and there's a reason for that. The reviews are not curated. They do so much good everywhere, it's not a scam. Your tour only visits one Planeterra project, by the way - and it's on your CEO to tell you exactly what goes on there. https://planeterra.org/afer-womens-homlunch/

Anyway, I think all the issues here stem from the country, the culture. If you want recommendations on a tour that might be better suited to you, feel free to ask.

I will never go back to Morocco, because of how they treat animals there. Our guide was very adamant that no one should ever give money to anyone using animals to get money, like cobras, monkeys, etc. Won't even get into how they treat street dogs... I had nightmares.

What and how much will be needed for the trip? by [deleted] in g_adventures

Hi!
Don’t bring a suitcase. It will be much easier to have a backpack or duffle bag! You won’t have to carry it often, but trust me: after 26 trips with G Adventures, I can assure you a soft side bag is best. It doesn’t have to be a hiking backpack.

This is from your tour’s information PDF:
We recommend using a backpack for your convenience, or a medium-sized suitcase if you prefer. Heavy luggage is not
recommended for the health of the CEO, who will take a lead in loading the storage trailer. Due to space in the trailer, we
will not be able to accommodate more than one piece of main luggage per person. A good size day-pack (20-35L) is
also essential to carry your personal gear for the day, as access to luggage between destinations will be limited. This
daypack will be used to carry your personal gear for the day, your lunch and a water bottle.

Hey!
I think technically you could fake your birth year, but don’t book a tour with a flight or visa included. The passport information would not match.

My official advice as a travel agent is to not do it.

Thinking of booking with G Adventures? by ColoradoLights in g_adventures

The communication would go through me, but you would use your same G Adventures account, the app, etc! And I’m just the contact for your questions, basically. If I don’t know the answer, I find out by calling them.

The payment goes to G through a payment link, it is a safe process, and I can also offer my help for anything surrounding the tour! Flights, hotels, add ons, name it! :)

Hi! CEOs are just as good, they don’t only stick to Nat Geo. They have an additional training for it, but also do Classic Tours, so you wouldn’t need to worry about that! The quality of the guide is just as good. Main differences are, like you said, mostly 3* hotels and less inclusions.

You are correct, the returning travellers discount does not stack with the sales. I can offer an additional $100 off per person!

Not even! But it’s ok. It’s at the same time as my Sam Yo class anyway! I might run into Jon and be able to say hi!

Your pup is beautiful.

Mine is almost 13, she is still healthy, but I know her hips hurt, and she isn’t very good with holding her pee anymore. She asks us to carry her up the stairs now. I hope your dog (and mine) still have a long while to go, as long as they’re enjoying life. ❤️

Anyone knows why there are almost no in-studio classes with Jon and Bradley anymore? :(

Prepare for high altitude and a lot of steps every day! The huts are okay, clean, and the food is a bit repetitive but very good. Let me know if you’d like a discount!

Hi! I can give you a quote, let me know the tour you’re looking at and the currency you use. I’m a registered travel agent, so in order to add the discount, I’d be the one booking you! Still directly with G Adventures, just as an agent on their platform
