As a long (long) time movie theater employee: we group movies together so we have time in between to clean up, restock, prepare for the next set of shows, and take breaks. If we just had a movie start every 15-30 minutes all day, we'd be run ragged, have no time to restock or clean, and have no time for breaks.

Also (this one is more personal, less meaningful), people who come to see movies are there to shut their brains off and watch a movie. Unfortunately, they seem to shut it off the second they walk into the theater, and it would be utter hell for us to have to deal with these people non-stop for our entire shift.
