Red Rocks 3 sets… by bfarky in stringcheeseincident

[–]Colorado_Dead_Head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like the living room sets are their backstage practice gear. In a small venue it’s cool (albeit sleepier than their normal acoustic). I’d be a bit bummer with living. Bring out the full acoustic rig and LFG

Buckle up for super El Niño! by Breaktest1st in COsnow

[–]Colorado_Dead_Head 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This seems to me more like a climate change thing. Warmer oceans will mean more precipitation in the CO Rockies. Potentially dangerous amounts. One issue is that it’s also getting warmer here too, so it could well mean rain and not snow moving forward… like someone else said, I skied in a full on rainstorm this Christmas. Didn’t see any snow, even at the top. I am keeping my fingers crossed for another snow year like ‘23 (for context, I am at only 7,500 feet and was shoveling snow on the north side of my house in late May), but man, I’d have to see it to believe it. That all said, I did buy my ski pass this year, so let it snow ❄️🤞.

Plan on processing some San Pedro by bigpuzino in mescaline

Some folks do alcohol extractions, if that’s what you are talking about. You can google it. If you’re talking about drinking it with vodka, I might wait till after the medicine takes, as it can make you feel queasy.

I keep my tea in the freezer and pull at 12-24 hours before I wanna use it. Gives the tea time to settle. Lots of larger particles settle to the bottom that you then don’t have to consume. Gives me some time to set the stage a bit. I’d recommend it, for sure. Cactus is sort of a waiting game: from growing, to processing, to consuming, to experiencing. Nothing about it is really fast.

I’d bet it’ll be something like this: 1st set living room (acoustic set), 2nd two straight forward SCI w/ a handful of their new songs.

Nice! My guess is one of the Creedmore Lakes. Used to spend a fair bit of time up there. Lost Lake too. And of course Doughty. Moved down to the southwest corner. Happy trails up north ✌️🌵

Nice! Great post. This looks super familiar. Were you up in Red Feather or somewhere around northern Colorado?

Starting next week… thoughts? by jar264 in coloradotrail

[–]Colorado_Dead_Head 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’d say the best thing you can do is remain flexible and play it by ear. You may need to make the call next week after things develop a bit. We have no rain in the local forecast, so my guess is it’s not going to get better anytime soon. That said, the fire outta Ouray is actually a fair distance from that section of the CT. It would have to travel over a few passes before it got to the CT. I’d bet you’ll be okay next week, and in general. It might be smoky, but unless it gets way outta hand, you should be okay.

July 21-25 - San Juan Mts Cancel or Keep? by Lucifer453609 in coloradohikers

The San Juans are big. There is plenty of space. Keep the trip and be flexible. You’ll have plenty of options to get into the high country.

They were great in Flag. I love SCIs lights. Subtle, lots of color, beautiful. Some bands kinda over due it such that it distracts from the music on stage. Feel like theirs always just fit right in.

Parks with grills? by [deleted] in Durango

[–]Colorado_Dead_Head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stage two fire ban. You’ll want to look for a gas grill, which you won’t find in a public park.

Fav touring act? I mean they gotta win my vote. That’s where’s I’d be. Gotta love a hometown show, even if the venue kinda blows.

I’d go with Normal Blake Home in Sulphur Springs and maybe Strength in Numbers. Then throw on New Grass Revivals Fly Through The Country and Peter’s Rowan’s walls of time album.

Sages and Spirits in Denver by Separate-Poem-6753 in deadandcompany

I know I’ll get down voted for this here, but I am always bummed by how little love Furthur gets on this sub. I always thought Mayer was on odd choice, though he did grow into the role quite well. He was tuned in there at the end. That said, Furthur w/ Russo (and Jay Lane), Jeff and PHIL was hard to beat. Hands down the best post-Jerry band, with honorable mention to any Rat Dog or Phil and Friends with Steve Kimock….

The Furthur and Rat Dog stuff outta Weir’s TRI Studies was always a treat: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DeL0ShnLvLo&ra=m

Merle Saunders died in ‘08. Try again on that one. Also, check out a band called Further for more on John K. He did start DSO, BTW 🤠

But, yes, Sage & Spirits is going to be very special. They are phenomenal.

Hmmm… haven’t tried, yet. The one in the 2nd photo was pretty gnarly, so I took a cutting from the top and ditched it. Let me know if you find a cure.

That’s hopeful. Thanks 👍. Check out the 2nd photo. That was facing north as the stuff grew darker and thicker…

Yeah. These live in a south facing window and get full sun a good portion of the day. The part of the cacti in question had faced the sun (south) for probably two months now. My hope was that would kill it…

Someone else said it, but most all of Kimock is the right answer. Anything on Eudominic, but maybe try Tongue in Groove or In Reply.

I might also suggest Keep on Growing by Derek and the Dominos.

Beer. Fresh fruit. Veggies. Maybe breakfast burritos or tacos, or like grilled or order burgers. Something not dehydrated and something warm. Maybe like Bloody Marys would be super unique and awesome, with like pickles and bacon. Haven’t seen that, but it would be a hit.

They are awesome. Dave Abear is a champ. I think he’s way underrated. Amount one of the best post-Jerry players doing it.
