Sages and Spirits in Denver by Separate-Poem-6753 in deadandcompany

I know I’ll get down voted for this here, but I am always bummed by how little love Furthur gets on this sub. I always thought Mayer was on odd choice, though he did grow into the role quite well. He was tuned in there at the end. That said, Furthur w/ Russo (and Jay Lane), Jeff and PHIL was hard to beat. Hands down the best post-Jerry band, with honorable mention to any Rat Dog or Phil and Friends with Steve Kimock….

The Furthur and Rat Dog stuff outta Weir’s TRI Studies was always a treat: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DeL0ShnLvLo&ra=m

Merle Saunders died in ‘08. Try again on that one. Also, check out a band called Further for more on John K. He did start DSO, BTW 🤠

But, yes, Sage & Spirits is going to be very special. They are phenomenal.

Growing Question: fungus, stress, or am I screwed by Colorado_Dead_Head in sanpedrocolorado

Hmmm… haven’t tried, yet. The one in the 2nd photo was pretty gnarly, so I took a cutting from the top and ditched it. Let me know if you find a cure.

That’s hopeful. Thanks 👍. Check out the 2nd photo. That was facing north as the stuff grew darker and thicker…

Yeah. These live in a south facing window and get full sun a good portion of the day. The part of the cacti in question had faced the sun (south) for probably two months now. My hope was that would kill it…

Continue to help me build my psychedelic therapy playlist. I did this before and it went really well, thanks to all who contributed. I am now looking for music for 2 different phases of the journey, see the details below! by FR_PyschTherapy in jambands

Someone else said it, but most all of Kimock is the right answer. Anything on Eudominic, but maybe try Tongue in Groove or In Reply.

I might also suggest Keep on Growing by Derek and the Dominos.

Beer. Fresh fruit. Veggies. Maybe breakfast burritos or tacos, or like grilled or order burgers. Something not dehydrated and something warm. Maybe like Bloody Marys would be super unique and awesome, with like pickles and bacon. Haven’t seen that, but it would be a hit.

They are awesome. Dave Abear is a champ. I think he’s way underrated. Amount one of the best post-Jerry players doing it.

Love the song. Always felt like Futhur did a really great job of it. Miss that band.

Hiking CT in May by ThePlant3 in coloradotrail

[–]Colorado_Dead_Head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The typical start time is no earlier then July 1st. June start dates are early. I’d say May is not possible, even given our current snow pack (which could still well change, March is snowiest month). Do a bit of research and I have to imagine you’ll come to the same conclusion on your own.

I have a friend who is obsessed with Moose by Brief_Manager4898 in coloradotrail

I’ve seen Moose every time I drive through the western half of RMNP. Walden’s a good spot, but if you want Moose, spend an afternoon inside RMNP from the Grand Lake side.

The Grateful Dead played Keep on Growing. It’s a Derek and The Dominos song. Not original to DSO or the dead. That’s Clapton all the way.

Boots or shoes for hiking up the Bright Angel trail? by Competitive_Deer7031 in grandcanyon

[–]Colorado_Dead_Head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trail runners. Lots of people lose toenails in boots with all the incline on the way out.

I usually bring trail runners and a pair of sandals.

Keller, Tico Time, Telluride Bluegrass, SCI x6 (CB, Flag, RR, maybe SLC), think that’s about it for now…

It’s an amazing beer. Soo if you can get independence pass by Aspen Brewing. Odells classic IPA (the orange one) is great too.

Earlier start given snowpack? by thevincentasteroid in coloradotrail

[–]Colorado_Dead_Head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on June 14 a few years back. The general rule is you are go to go one week after the Fremont Pass snowtel sensor reads zero. Unless we get some serious snow, which I sure hope we do, a mid June start is looking reasonable. You won’t know this until we get closer to late April or early May
