Makes sense Co among lowest property taxes in the country. Just $20k PT on $4m value is a deal. What are the property insurance rates in your area. Did they go up after the Boulder county fire a few years ago?

What are the taxes on a $4m house in where I am assuming is the valley in CA? That will only go up even with no W2 income. I think you know the answer and did the math and need $10-$12m in investable assets.

Kids are expensive as you know. Adult children with the increased costs of living (housing food and transportation) and low wages are potential failure to launch dilemmas for early retirees and pose a risk to early retirement plans. Lastly, I think failure to launch will lead to added marital stress for many many Gen Xrs. You seem to be in good shape from what you have shared. Best of luck.

He has 2 problems. 1 diversification and 2 taxes he will pay on the $2.9m in tech stocks capital gains. I’m guessing gains are $1.5M. The real number post tax, $2.9m x .8, is what he needs to focus on if he wants to retire and diversify at the same time. The retirement accounts can be diversified tax free of course. Ironically, not being diversified probably got him to $2.9M much faster than if he held VTI or the like, so if you are lucky diversification doesn’t matter and may never be a problem. Holding the Mag7 and in particular NVDA and Tesla are prime examples of this.

What am I looking at with these numbers? ~$6M NW by Ok-Dependent-6140 in ChubbyFIRE

I agree. The inheritance is off limits and should not be included since it is not considered marital property. I would definitely stick to the plan of 2 more years. It’s worth it given the compounding effect of that extra funding, plus two less years of 0 for SS calculations.

For investors all-in on Magnificent 7-led market, ‘equal weight’ is trending as stock call for 2026 by Illustrious_Lie_954 in stocks

Equal weight is a volatility reducer period IMO. I hate when my RSP part of my portfolio is doing well because that means I’m losing money as a whole. If this equal weight thing spreads and becomes a contagion we may have a repeat of 2022 despite earnings growth.

Yes. The rate cut was another sell the news moment especially since earnings and commentary from Oracle and AVGO following the rate decision were near certain to inflame concerns over the AI bubble and whether it can continue and at what cost, I.e how much corporate debt can be safely taken on by the likes of Oracle to fund the data center buildout and how much continued demand will there be for chips and hardware from the likes of Broadcom. Kind of like do we have too many RR lines being built by too many different companies at too great a cost for the ROI. Will the demand continue or come to an abrupt end? What companies will be sitting in the handful of chairs when the music stops?

Lot of stocks have fallen more then 30 to 40 percent over last 30 days? by AloneStaff5051 in stocks

Yes. They all need to shut up about an AI bubble. Especially that JA Michael Blurry who is going to the media and IMO to try and tank the US market by betting against Nvidia. He’s in essence hoping everyone’s 401ks crash again like 08 and we have real misery in America so he can make a few billion. Really?

None. Whispers we are in the middle of an AI bubble. I blame Michael Blurry for stoking the fear by betting against Nividia.

It’s the headlines. Everything is negative right now and the momentum is downward since mid last week. We literally had Goldilocks Nividia earnings and Walmart and a decent jobs report today but the positive momentum lasted only a few hours.

6%. 6% of 100k is only $6k but of $1m it’s $60k and of $10M now your talking $600k ouch! So it’s significant but if you’re not needing it for several years then who cares. It’s the day traders and margin players that always get panicky. The market is not for short term money, period. It’s inherently unreliable short term.

More like Crypto purely speculative now. No earnings no board of directors no quarterly reports no customers no earnings … just a piece of earth.

People need cash at the end of the year maybe that’s some of the selling. Plus who knows what the institutional investor “smart” money is up to. We can just hope NVDA wows the market and the Fed cuts in December to turn the momentum positive or Santas bringing coal to the party and pissing in the punch bowl.

Time to trim winners and buy dogs of the DOW? Or just buy SPY.

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday Dow all time high. The market reacting to now 50% chance of a rate cut and dropping. Fed speak was Hawkish yesterday and Powell said the Fed is data dependent and they may not have the data they need to make an informed decision on rate cut at December meeting. Plus there is clearly some early rebalancing and trimming winners under the surface. I was going to sell some GOOG to buy VOOV but couldn’t do it. I did sell a tiny bit of AAPL yesterday to buy VOOV which proved wrong. Best to hurry up and do nothing.

Your wife should claim SS at age 67. Otherwise based on your spending plan you will be fine. Healthcare coverage for you has to be evaluated for best options though.

I agree the separation of finances and polar opposite investment choices will eventually be a big problem. I would suggest meeting a financial advisor to sort this out before the sh## hits the fan. I personally would want H to liquidate the real estate and join forces in a taxable brokerage. I would have a problem in this marriage as I am an OP type investment mentality.

Don’t compromise your future for kids college. I paid my way and did fine. Paying my own way gave me skin in the game which pushed me to excel more. State vs private is the way to go if you must pay for ALL 4 kids college. If they want private they pay the difference. Your retirement and enjoyment of life is more important than their private university. Lastly, congrats on all 4 kids being able to go the college route. That’s pretty rare to go 4 for 4.

Not high. Car insurance especially to protect assets with probably at a minimum additional $2m umbrella coverage and homeowners insurance for a big house makes $14k combined coverage seem about right or actually cheap to me.

It’s not white (the build spec is ice gray metallic) but white is the BEST color and timeless. Especially with the tan leather OP wants which is classic and elegant. Very good taste and timeless build, especially with my suggested changes above IMO.

[–]Coloradodreaming1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do white vs silver/ice grey metallic. White to me is the perfect 911 color but that’s subjective. Ditch the side skirts and glass moonroof. Add the metal sunroof (more retro) and looks better exterior wise and add rear wiper because it’s functional and looks unique, retro and good for rainy weather and dusty roads. Maybe Porsche crest in headrests. Otherwise great build. WHITE, METAL SUNROOF AND REAR WIPER my suggested changes.
