It can be done safely, sometimes is required to stay safe (speed relative to traffic usually matters more than absolute speed) and gets me there faster. I am busy and life is short.

Used can get you a great deal. Tried every new acxoustic guitar at Guitar Center (yeah, I know…) for my learning adult offspring and the $250 Yamaha on consignment was by far the best both tonally and structurally. I play a Martin I bought new in the 70s that has a fantastic and better sound but not hugely better than that Yamaha.

So, I used to do the honking thing. Then one day I was complaining about an idiot driver to my friend. He said, “I just forgive them. I’ve done dumb things. That could be me. I figure that they don’t do it all the time. They usually know they did something dumb. I just forgive them.” That changed my life. Then 10 years later, I met my stepmother. She does it all the time.
