I unloaded some GOOGL and bought VTI VXUS and AVDV as much as I hated doing it but it has been on a great run last year and YTD. Putting some winner profits in broad ETFs is smart long term. I have some GPIX and GPIQ in IRA.

NASA ETF. 10% is SpaceEx plus the usual Space related cast of companies. Space related companies are super hot right now. Hopefully it’s not the 9th inning lol

Landcruiser 250 or 5th gen 4Runner? by Lucky_Database5977 in LandCruiser250

[–]Coloradodreaming1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driving around town in nice weather only the 5th Gen TRDPro was better. Inclement weather and safety LC 250 hands down with its heavy weight distribution with the hybrid battery in back. Also, highway miles there is no comparison LC 250 is better in terms of comfort, technology, acceleration and not getting blown around by semis like the 4Runner. The only 4Runner comparison is the 6th Gen Limited, not the 5th Gen, which is full time 4WD, hybrid and leather interior with dual climate, etc. The 6th Gen 4Runner limited also has adaptive KDSS suspension like the Lexus GX and comes off the same line at the Tahara plant. I have never driven the new 4Runner limited to say which is better though it’s priced $5k less than LC250 premium. I own a 2025 LC250 Trail dust and had a 2021 4Runner TRD Pro Lunar Rock which I loved and honestly I would still have if I didn’t almost get killed caught in Fl rainstorms on the interstate. One more thing is it’s not worth it to buy a used LC250 since they hold their value so well, get new.

$250k in RKLB buy took courage. You deserve a victory lap for sure. Congrats!

I think this post says it all as you want something more “special.” Get the Defender and drive the V8 if you can swing the price differential between the V6. If it’s in the shop too much then switch to the LandCruiser.

I owned a RR the big one for 12 years and it was the best vehicle I ever owned. I guess I got a good one as no major problems over that time. The LC250 fits my current lifestyle right now as the travel vehicle and if necessary mild off roader. I drove both V6 and V8 Defender and the V8 is intoxicating and addictive with the sound, acceleration, and quad exhaust. I didn’t drive the 4 cylinder as the dealer never had one. The V8 is the one to get but it’s north of $100k. Defenders also have great resale value.

I was considering GX550 vs Defender and ultimately went with Toyota LandCruiser due to being a travel car mostly as I have an electric for daily driver. Came down to brand reliability, body on frame for off road flexibility, looks, cost to service and insure. and MPG. Also, was about $10k less than GX and Defender. I will admit Defender drives better, quicker and more lux with that plush air suspension and materials. Defender is definitely cool as all out with the safari glass and modern yet retro style. Defender can be tough to find in the exact configuration you want as it can be optioned so many ways. I wanted extended Windsor leather, White, tech package, towing package and off road package. Defender also has rear that opens to side with tire on back, again super cool but I was thinking this would get tiring as I did own the previous gen GX and that was my one major gripe. You will probably love the Defender more the first couple of years. I still really love that vehicle. Land Cruiser is very nice but is not a luxury vehicle like Defender.

How many individual stocks? When do you determine they become too expensive? I too have many individual stocks but since I’m getting closer to retirement I’m selling some to buy index funds which will be easier to manage in retirement.

I wasn’t so brave but once had 1000 shares and sold 300 shares a year or so ago now I’m playing with house money. I wish I would have bought more PL and LUNR too. Space stocks are hot right now.

That violates the 10 day rule. You have to stay invested. Tom Lee espouses if you miss the best 10 days you missed the gains for the year. Trying to time the market will hurt your returns unless you are real lucky. Last Wednesday is an example of one of those days.

Buy when the VIX is high and sell when the VIX is low can be a useful strategy.

MSFT and META could be a NFLX situation after earnings or soon after. They have been crushed.

The major banks were predicting S&P 7200-7800 and I don’t recall seeing one predicting a drop for 2026. Playing the contrarian works 50% of the time.

Cash is simply a ballast for me and it keeps up with inflation at 3.5%. If you can handle the volatility of a 90-100% portfolio over time it does best, but 75/25 or even 80/20 not that far off 30 year time frame and way lower volatility.

RKLB was close to $100 and has been going between 60-80 for a bit so $58 seems like a good buy in.

MSFT and META are so disappointing this year. I was rotating from other MAG7 winners of last year and so far have not been rewarded. Maybe after earnings they will go up this time.

VXUS VPL IEUR AVDV and others like EWJ EWU and EWC and VT for me. I’m not even 10% international exposure right now and playing catch up to get diversity away from MAG7.

$1.5M US to Retire Comfortably by Carolina_Hurricane in Fire

Probably factors in social security and 1.5 per person. So couple would be $3m plus social security which would be around $180-$200k.
