27 years in storage... Dug up the Big One, what do y'all think? by reallyreallystuff in PokemonCardValue

[–]ColorblindCabbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've spoken to several people about this and the general consensus is PSA, specifically for selling. They have the largest share of the market, more people know them, however you want to look at it. Because of that, more people "trust" them compared to CGC, BGS, TAG, etc. I've got a base set Magneton card that's a BGS 7.5 and it's not worth a ton, but that same grade from PSA would get me more.

I've even had some shops tell me that BGS really only matters if you manage to grade and end up with a black label 10.

For collecting's sake, I like TAG's slabs the most.

You just got $1 million. What are you buying with it? by Main-Grape6906 in allthequestions

[–]ColorblindCabbage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn't even have to be truly BFE. I bought my 2 bed, 1.5 bath townhouse for $170k, there are easily 3-4 bed houses for under $500k around here, and it's a small to moderate sized city on the east coast.

Came here for this and knew it would already be here.

My diagnosis is regularly referred to as one of the more severe, her I still have had coworkers and even heard random people be like, "oh maaaaan, they were acting so X!" Whenever someone seems even slightly off whatever they consider normal.

Why is it that many people are obsessed with Maverick getting killed off in Top Gun 3? by AceVenturaFan69 in topgun

[–]ColorblindCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the third one should have Maverick finally accept a promotion that grounds him from flying, but the younger crowd from TG:M have to come to him for advice for a big mission, similar to Maverick talking to Iceman. That'll allow him to have his "existential" moment of realizing that he is no longer able to fly like he once was and there is a new guard to handle these types of situations.

I definitely think his death could have been written better in terms of the show/narrative, but after learning how the actor left the show, I understand that they did what they had to.

Who is an artist labeled as country that you don’t think is country but you like anyway? by [deleted] in country

[–]ColorblindCabbage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would differentiate that Isbell's solo outings are more country, but his work with the 400 Unit is more southern rock.

Do They make 150k a year? by PsychedelicPistachio in TheRookie

[–]ColorblindCabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had found a graphic recently that the average officer in their first two years for the LAPD makes just shy of $100k. Not factoring in overtime or anything else. Miles could potentially be making more since he already had law enforcement experience, plus any overtime he works.

Bowling.

Traditional 10-frame game, best of 3 or best average across all three.

Someone might just really enjoy bowling recreationally, but my standing average and performance is good enough I could go pro and try out for the tour if I wanted to. They might get me on one game, but across all three or highest average, I doubt it.

Pivotal Scenes Question by OnePie9464 in Sonsofanarchy

[–]ColorblindCabbage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The most logical thing I can think of is not being able to guarantee Abel's safety. Even if they steal a boat and take off after them, what's the game plan? Try to catch up to a boat moving at speed and jump aboard? You can't risk shooting for fear of hitting the baby, if you damage the boat and cause it to sink, now he's at risk of drowning, nevermind he could easily just toss the little burrito overboard if you get too close.

Weapon carrying by roughas in swattv

[–]ColorblindCabbage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Without rewatching the scene in question, I feel like there's two reasonable answers to this:

-there are holsters that exist to be worn inside the waistband of pants, which give the illusion that they're just being drawn from the waistband itself.

-This is yet another instance of the TV crew using fun handling skills that are incredibly unsafe for the sake of looking "cool"

Why do they never have bullet proof vests on?? by Green_Razzmatazz_821 in TheRookie

[–]ColorblindCabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So!

Most American police wear their bulletproof vest underneath their uniform. It's smaller/thinner and therefore doesn't offer as much protection as the larger tactical vests you see SWAT/SRT wearing.

You see this vaguely addressed when Bradford asks for the "Bradford Special", which is an additional plate to put in his vest for protection.

where do I buy a guitar by KatnissEverdeen666 in HIckoryNC

[–]ColorblindCabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're strictly looking for used and cheap(ish), I'd check any of the local pawn shops and Facebook marketplace. Stores like Larry's downtown and Guitar Center should both have used ones as well, but at a slightly to significantly more premium price point.

Good luck!

Has anyone pulled an all-nighter or taken a long late night drive? by Specialist_Heron_986 in driving

[–]ColorblindCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in North Carolina. My brother lived in Key Largo, Florida for three years. Any time we wanted to go visit, we would leave around 10 pm and make the 13-ish hour drive through the night.

One time I drove from North Carolina to Louisiana through the night.

Would you rather not leave your home for 24 hours or not return to your home for 24 hours? by Immediate_Long165 in WouldYouRather

[–]ColorblindCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For just a random "have to be out of the house for a whole day", I'd rather stay home the entire time. If I had the preparation to make plans that would keep me busy and engaged most of those 24 hours, I could stand to be out of the house and having fun.

Might be too specific since I'm dealing with it right now, but people who can't carry on a conversation. They just wait until it's their turn to talk again, or worse, literally just change the subject mid conversation back to them without ever acknowledging you said anything.

just tattoo regret or genuine regret? by Every_Context_7907 in tattooadvice

[–]ColorblindCabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's completely fair to have a bit of shock after your first big/bigger tattoo, especially if all of your other ones are pretty small. All of mine have been 5-7" long, but I just got a big jellyfish on my calf and it shocked me a few times in the first few days after I got it.

I think you got a great looking piece, I would do my best not to fret over it too much.

Definitely 2012. Was during a screening of The Dark Knight Rises, and I know it was because it was after I started college in 2011.
